Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: AI

Thank you for that but I don't need a new version of Photoshop.

I just wanted to try out AI and then think about how, or if, I might use it in conjunction with Photoshop.

It certainly does a good job re scratches!

Wow Peter :D

Thank you so much for the link.

This is a superb thread, which I've just read for the first time and it has some great replies.

Thank you everyone ... and hello to anybody who remembers me from ?2006? when I first discovered restoration and began my journey, my first tentative steps in restoring, which became a passion for several years.
Eventually, life intervened and I stopped/lost interest, but now I think I might begin again.

There's so much I've forgotten and, goodness, AI has reared it's ugly head to further confuse me  ;D

I well remember my very first venture into colourisation! Lol ... a really simple pic, requiring very few colours. It took me hours and hours and drove me nuts
;D ::) ;)

Hi Peter and a huge thank you for such a comprehensive reply :)
Much appreciated.

What a shame people left, but I quite understand why. One click and it's done instead of spending hours/days driving yourself nuts is so irritating and especially annoying are the comments about 'how clever' the restorer must be!!!
Good to see a few name on here from years ago and thank goodness they're continuing.

One of the main reasons I'm interested in trying AI, is because I have 2 very faded pics of two of my great great grandmothers, which would definitely benefit from something more than traditional restoring.
Sadly, I don't have the originals so rescanning is not an option.

I'm about to click on your link to read the Rootschat thread and I'll have a good look at Topaz later. It sounds like a useful one.

Again, much thanks for the reply.

 :) :) :)

Hi there  :)
The AI results are so interesting and I'd really like to try it out sometime.

I would love to know which version is better/easier to use as I've only ever used Photoshop CS and am considerably out of practice at present.

TIA

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / AI

Hello all😊

I've been absent for quite a while and wonder if anybody's using AI for restoring?
I've seen a number of restores on Facebook and some are quite impressive, others are terrible and look really artificial.

I'd quite like to try AI in conjunction with my Photoshop CS but have no idea which would be a good one.

TIA

The Common Room / RAOB Stafford District

I'm restoring and colouring an elderly photo for someone and I need to know the colours of the uniform/regalia the man's wearing.

His gauntlets/cuffs, apron and sash look quite light, so I'm thinking they may be light blue but I can't find any ref for the Stafford District.

Please can anybody help?

Thank you
