Technical Help / Re: Weird frog on my pc screen

A strange thing has happened on my PC in the last 2-3 days which I cannot get rid of so would appreciate any help/advice

I am the sole user of the PC and do not have a lo gin id to access it

Normally when I boot up - it goes straight to my desktop with all the various icons etc

Suddenly - I now get a blue screen with a line down the middle

Left of the line is the Microsoft XP logo plus "To begin, click your user name"

To the right of the line is a white square with what looks like a green frog in it and to the side of the square it says "User"

I now have to click the frog to get to my desktop

Microsoft have installed a number of updates recently - is this the result of one of them?

How do I get rid of it?

I don't know why i never thought of getting a timer Long ago ::)I have burnt so many pizzas practising the time which to cook them.I don't like them, but one day i might ;D I never did get the timing right  and they burnt to a cinder. They would have made good Frisbees though ;D and my blackcurrant crumbles ::) the currents were that burnt i had to wait till the went cold. Then lift it out in one piece ;D
Hopfully i can now get my home cooking out of the oven just right

Hi All
sorry for the late reply, after doing all the recommended suggestions. All I could see was small plastic digital timers, that for some reason i wasn't looking for.I was thinking bigger ;D but as i haven't been well for a few weeks now i think I was a bit dozy at the time ;D.
On seeing the timers I went out the next day and got one from the 1 pound shop on the kitchen stuff shelf. It is just what i wanted its great it has its own stand so i have it by the computer you can even clip it onto your clothing.Set it by minutes or seconds like the microwave timer. It did give me a fright though when i tested it  i was reading something of interest on the P.C and forgot about the timer ;D  I was expecting a beep when it went off instead i got a phone ring that nearly gave me a heart attack ;D ;D

wouldn'tyou think that they could at least put a plaque up near to the grave to say who they are.

.
As the graves belong to the council its up to family, maybe years later to do that.I have noticed only this year there is one Small I.L.M. of? stone, all on its own on the Paupers ground.I have noticed others since because they are not in line.Your ancestor had a sad ending to her life, but at leased you know where she is buried.

Hi,
i don't suppose a public grave would have a head stone would it?
you suppose right silv :(
Public/Paupers graves can have other Paupers buried in the same grave that are no relation at all.If a person was a pauper they could not pay for grave or burial. So the council did, as far as i am aware the graves belong to the council.
In our cemetery there is a big hill/mound where there shouldn't be.
I was once told that the piece of land was were paupers were buried. They ran out of space for burials so more soil was put on top when the land settled they could bury more paupers. That piece of land has not a single headston. Maybe the bit of land that you saw that drops down is actually a hill.Or it is the degrading remains that have broken down and the land has collapsed. That's the best sensitive way I can think of putting it

Not sure where you've been looking but you can find a wide variety of timers (from plain dial ones to animal-shaped ones and other novelty shapes) in many shops,
we only have one shop that should them but i never found any.

But you would probably be better off with a small timer to sit next to your machine

Thats what I have been looking for,for months :)

Timers are available from Maplins (Electronic componenets store)
I will have a look on the net see if there is one in .my area.

Technical Help / [Completed] Is such a thing as a timer for a P.C
« on: Friday 16 July 10 18:43 BST (UK)  »
The reason I ask is I forget I have put something in the oven ;D
It seems you cant buy timers anymore, and  I cant hear the oven timer from the room next door.So that's why I am asking  :)
