The Common Room / Re: Who is Albert Gluck?

Is this connected to the open police murder investigation covered here https://www.sachsen-anhalt.de/bs/pressemitteilungen/pressemitteilung-details/?no_cache=1&tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Buid%5D=74207&tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Baction%5D=single&tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Bcontroller%5D=Static&cHash=1064269fab5029a7c898e2a4ae316d16

Not sure RC is the best place for this type of research to be honest  :-\

The person remains unidentified and his name unknown. Pretty hard for anyone to help with this...

Monica
Thank you for your time anyway. I am moderator for a missing persons group and was hoping someone could help. That is a great link you have posted by the way as gives a lot of detail into the case.

I tried myself to find some information but can only find an Albert Glock in Australia who would not fit as the spelling is different and he passed in the 1960's.  ???

Good evening

I would like to help solve a death as the person remains unidentified.
Albert Gluck = Death Vockerode, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany in 2016 aged between 45 to 60 years old.

I believe that he may have been an Australian National as have found some Albert Glucks on the National Archives but two are closed documents.

If any one can help I would be grateful please, many thanks.

I was just looking on a passenger list from 9th January 1958 from Amsterdam to Australia and here we have:-
A. Joke (Surname do)
(ABBREVIATIONS- To save time, inspectors often used terms like “above,” “same,” “ditto” or even an abbreviation of “do” to indicate a repeated entry.)

I find this entry rather puzzling.

Is the A Joke entry of a serious nature. ;D

I’m not sure what you’re trying to find out but, to clarify, nobody changes their name ‘by deed poll’. The deed poll is simply a written record that they have done so, and deed polls only represent a relatively small number of name changes made. Before the modern era, most people could change their names as and when and however they wished to (other than for fraudulent purposes).

Many changes of Germanic names around the WW2 period were simple anglicisations, so if you are searching indexes for this surname you might also want to try ‘Youngblood’?

There’s a useful research guide about name changes here ...
https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/changes-of-name/

Thank you Bootbox, I just looked at my DNA matches and found Ade Belle Youngblood is in my tree.  :D

In the original thread I gave the wrong name as his new name. George Ernest Grahame was another Jungblut who changed their name via deedpoll. ;D

I have been looking at the Junglbut surname in the UK and find it fascinating that Louis H K H Jungblut changed his name by deepoll too  after WW2.
I would love to find out a little bit more about this person as he is intriguing. There is a listing on ancestory but I am not currently a member. Could anyone give me some more insight please.

I found this as well in the National Archives. Reference:
HO 334/188/31014
