Hi ciderheadz 1,
You said you had some info on Folletts of dorset (Thomas Follett
1688-1755 Whitchurch Canonicorum)  that I may find useful.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Dorset Lookup Requests / Re: PERHAM Look-Up 1841 census

 :) Hi Tracer,
I have Mary Follett 1777-1855 married to a John Perham.  Mary was my Gt, gt, gt Grandfathers' elder sister.  She and John had only one child that I have been able to trace:  Mary Follett 1803-1884 born Burton Bradstock, Dorset.  The possible reason for not taking the fathers' name was that Mary snr remarried
in 1806 to a James Hoskins.
I can find only one child from this 2nd marriage:  Elizabeth Hoskins 1809.
I do hope that is of some help.
Yours:  Peter Jon Sprake-Follett

Dorset Lookup Requests / Re: Bridport, Symondsbury - SPRAKE
« on: Tuesday 18 November 08 19:41 GMT (UK)  »
 :) Hi Sirgeoffrey,
I have around 50 Sprakes in my family tree.  The early ones were all from the Symondsbury area, including my own Gt, gt Grandmother -
Mary Sprake 1813-1872.  She married Gaius Follett in Netherbury March 29th 1842.
Unfortunately, I do not have your chap - possibly a son of one of the later ones.
My earliest is John Sprake & his wife Elizabeth c1720.  These were my 5x Gt Grandparents.
Hope I haven't confused your search.  Willing to help should you require.

Yours:  Peter Jon Sprake-Follett

 :) Hi Lisa,
Joan Follett 1784 was my Gt, gt, gt Grandfathers'( Adam Follett 1779-1846)  sister. He was a witness at their wedding in 1806.
Don't  know a great deal about the Husseys, apart from an earlier marriage between them and the Folletts - Joanna Hussey 1778-? & Robert Follett 1771-1861, married Symondsbury, Dorset May 16th 1804
I have Folletts going back to 1688 ( my 6x Grandfather) should you wish them.

Hi Ciderheadz 1,
Sometime ago now I requested any info on the Follett families of Dorset/Somerset.  My own branch I have traced back to Thomas Follett 1688-1755 & Cicely Miller 1692-1745.  As far as I know Thomas was born in Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset.  The couple were also married there on May 12th 1713.  These were my Gt, gt, gt, gt, gt, gt Grandparents.
Children:  Thomas 1715-1722*, Robert 1714-1716, Mary 1718-?, John 1720-?, Robert 1722-1724, Robert 1726-?, Elizabeth 1729-?

*Thomas 1715-1722 & Ann Hodder 1715-1773 m: Whitchurch Canonicorum Dec 12th 1739.   Gt, gt, gt, gt, gt Grandparents.  Only 1 child that I know of:
*John Follett 1740-1805 & Mary Taylor.  m: Whitchurch C on Jul 24th 1763.

*Adam Follett 1779-1846 & Jane Purchase c1777- 1856.
*Gaius Follett 1813-1865 & Mary Sprake 1813-1872.
*William Sprake-Follett 1849-1932 & Clara Parry 1851-1939.
*Leslie Herbert Sprake-Follett 1880-1972 & Bertha Brown 1892-1975.
*Stanley William Sprake-Follett 1920-2006 & (living relative)(*)

* Direct link.

Any help in finding earlier family members would be greatly appreciated.
Parents and siblings of Thomas Follett (sometimes Follet) 1688-1755 would
be wonderful.
I know there must be a link between the Folletts of Dorset/Somerset and those of Devon.
Yours:  Peter Jon Sprake-Follett

 :)
Hi Jo,
I have several hundred FOLLETTs in my family tree.  The vast majority were farmers from Dorset - mainly around the Whitchurch/Netherbury district.  I have come across many FOLLETTs from the South Pertherton area but am having difficulty establishing a link between the families.  One of my ancestors, a John Follett 1812-1877 married a Susanna Cleall from South Perrott.  None of these places are very far apart.
My Gt Grandfather, William Sprake-Follett always maintained that if the name was spelt FOLLETT then we were all  related at one point.
I personally believe this is more wishful thinking than fact.  Some of my ancestors, including my own Gt, gt, gt, gt, gt, gt, Grandfather, Thomas Follett 1688-1755 was often referred to as Mr FOLLET.  In one Census my Gt, gt, gt
Grandfather, Adam FOLLETT 1779-1846 was down as FOLLETE!
I would be more than pleased to hear from you reference any possible links.

Yours:  Peter Jon Sprake-Follett
