James & Ann were married at St Malachy's R.C. in Belfast on 9 Jan 1891.
James address shown as 23 West St., Newtonards - parents James McKinley & Mary Jane Murphy
Ann's address was 15 Grace Street - parents Samuel Nicholl & Elizabeth Scullion
Unable to locate birth record for either James or Ann, and no information regarding their parents
This is the first time I have looked for Irish records and to be honest with very little success. I do know both James and Ann died in Whitehaven, Cumberland in 1919 and 1913 respectively.
Any help would be very much appreciated

United States of America / francis phillips - new york
« on: Monday 25 April 16 17:36 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to confirm a death record for Francis Phillips at the age of 120 ??
He was born at Hampshire, England in 1814 - In 1872 Francis with his wife Emily and 4 children (Emma 24, George 19, Charlotte 17 & Edith 11) emigrated to the USA (New York)
Emily died in 1897 and is buried at Island Hill Cemetery, Buskirk, Rensselaer County, New York
The last trace I can find of Francis is in 1905 aged 90 when he was living with his widowed son George at Buskirk.
There is a burial record at Island Hill Cemetery showing Francis Phillips born 24 Dec 1814 and dying on 23 Jul 1935 aged 120 with wife's name of Emily.
I would like to be able to confirm this from a death record or obituary because it just seems impossible - have not been able to find him of the 1920 or 1930 census records
Any help would be appreciated

Trying to find burial record for Susanna
Robert Chipp married Susanna Symonds at Alton Pancras on 21 Apr 1808 - they had 5 children (all baptised in Alton Pancras) (Frances 1809, Elizabeth 1810, Barbara 1812, Robert 1814 and Charles in 1824)
Robert remarried in Worth Matravers on 25 Oct 1830 where he is shown as a widower from Upwey, Weymouth - his second wife was Mary Brown Hall.
There is a burial record for a Susan Chipp in 1838 at Bridport but she is shown as an infant.
Any help would be appreciated

Can anyone help with James Sturmey born in 1845 at Wareham - the son on Walter & Grace Sturmey.
In 1861 he was living with his parents at Stoborough, Wareham working as a carter.
After 1861 he just seems to disappear
Thank you

World War One / Re: WW1 injured records
« on: Thursday 30 April 15 16:17 BST (UK)  »
From replies I have located one record on The Genealogist for T F Larkham (my grandfather), shown as wounded with a record date of 1916.
I am a little loathed to pay a subscription fee of £100 just to look at this record.
If there is anyone with access to this database on a diamond membership I would be very happy to pay a reasonable amount for looking up the record on my behalf.
Regards

World War One / WW1 injured records
« on: Wednesday 29 April 15 16:52 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know if there are any records available for soldiers injured during ww1.
I have tried the war diaries which list injured offices individually but not enlisted men.
Have no idea if VAD hospitals held any records or even if they did where to find them.
Did the hospital ships have any records and if so where would you find them?
Did any newspapers list injured WW1 casualties?
My grandfather was injured sometime after Nov 1915 and finished up at a VAD hospital - I am at a loss for where to look - maybe there are no records as there were so many injured.
Any help would be appreciated

Canada / William Preston - Toronto, Ontario
« on: Sunday 29 June 14 10:32 BST (UK)  »
Trying to fill in missing years of William
He was born in England in 1864 and in 1881 was living with his mother Jane Preston (nee Emond) in Selkirk, Scotland
He died on 16 November 1934 in Toronto, Ontario - his burial record shows him being buried in Prospect Cemetery, Toronto in section/lot 21 468 - a relative Agnes Preston (possibly his wife) was shown as living at 147 Silverthorne.
No idea when he arrived in Canada - whether Agnes was his wife as cannot find a marriage record - in Scotland he worked in the woolen industry.
His father was John Preston who died in August 1881.
Any help would be appreciated

Dorset / Re: Harold Stockley b.1897
« on: Monday 31 March 14 18:41 BST (UK)  »
If my research is correct Alice (Harold's mother) went off to London and on both 1901 & 1911 census records was working as a domestic servant in Middlesex. No trace of her ever being married

Dorset / Harold Stockley b.1897
« on: Monday 31 March 14 18:22 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone shed any light on what happened to Harold Stockley
He was born on 17 Nov 1897 at Lewell, West Knighton, Dorchester, Dorset - the illegitimate son of Alice Stockley - baptised on 9 Jan 1898 at West Knighton.
As far as I can see he just disappears after this date.
