This Mrs Dunn; I am pretty sure it will be Susan Dyer. You stated died 5 Sept 1884, death cert states she was 49 years of age.
The info I have from the family bible has a Mrs Dunn age 48 died 2 Sept 1884. The odds are this is the same person, Susan Dyer? Whats your thoughts. Will require some digging around to prove it 100% but it looks very likely.
Next thing is to link 100% Susan Dyer to Ann Dyer as being sisters and the mystery that has covered my gt gt grandmother has been partly lifted   ;D

Hi there again Janice.
Didnt know that bit of info abt John Dunn on where he was born and that he was with the 65th either! On my fathers side as well are close ties with the 65th as well! Many were based around Whanganui and the Taranaki Land Wars notably.

Our family bible. Some dumb $#@& actually tore the page out with all the info and from the copy I have [ which was apparently copied ] was sent to a Brian Revell, Red Beach Orewa! Why it wasnt copied and the Bible left intact is a mystery to me! One of my Aunties from way back needed her bum kicked. I can very vaguely remember it but what what is done is done :o(

This is what is written [ have not put down names that are not applicable to you ]

Mrs Dyer [ presume Ann's mother ] Birth place Ireland    Date of birth Nov   78 years    Date of death 1st Feb    This one as you can see is very incomplete pity no place names and actual DOB and Date of death

Mrs Dunn Birth Place Ireland    Date of birth 48 years  ?   Date of death 2nd Sept 1884

Dear Mother [ presume this must be Ann Dyer as dates match]  Birth Place Ireland   Date of death 26 Sept 1887

Dear father [ this must be Henry Revell ]  dates of birth and death all match.

Question is Mrs Dyer ... was she actually in NZ? Is she actually buried here in NZ? If correct then she would presumably had come out to NZ with some or one of the children. If she was buried in NZ then I can assume New Plymouth or Wanganui ?? Or was she written up in the book as a reference only and she stayed back in Ireland.
Im like you Janice, this Irish connection is all shrowded in mystery and not much to go on. Ann Dyer is much the same. Found her resting place but no one in our family knows anything abt her? Got a photo and thats it.
I smell a rat :o))) My mother is no help, and her 2 sisters are long past it so no help there! Will keep on digging, never know what time may dig up

Regards
Rex

Hi there Janice.

Well well !!
I knew come time I would find a thread in the saga of Ann Dyer!! There is a link somewhere with Dunns as their name appears in our family bible but no one knows how. Wished I had talked to my grandfather before he passed away as to who the ppl in the bible were and how they were linked to his Revell side! Never mind Janice thank you for this, now I have a solid lead to track.
I have found an Ann Dyer and another Dyer [ male or female and age is not stated] on board a ship called the Princess that docked in Petone/Wellington. Found this in papers-past and NZ Archives. The problem is that they were not assisted passengers or part of the Nz Company. If they were then apparently according to NZ Archives there is a paper war on how they came out, where from and where they went to. The date of arrival looks like so it could be my gt gt grandmother or could also be a wild goose chase.

Again thanx Janice ... very much appreciated. If I have any progress will get back in touch with you.

Regards
Rex

Hi there again Mila.
Interesting. To me it is too much of a coincidence that the names all relate. Will do some checking from my end.
My Anne Dyer from what I have so far dug up doesnt add up. On her wedding Cert the number of years in Nz plus her age at dont seem right. No one on either side of the family have any info on her at all.
Will get back to you as soon as I can via here okay. Your info hopefully will throw abit more light on things  :)

Hi there again. So you are a Kiwi ;D
It is very possible that these 2 ladies are related ... esp if they are from the same county in Ireland. From corresponse through here the name Dyer and Higgs isnt common to Queens County. There also is a rumour I heard in the family that my Anne came out to NZ with a sister but like you, never to date have I seen her name on a passenger list. But passenger lists can be abit short on specifics, found a few lists with names listed but at the end has " and 5 others" Really helpful aye !! Something interesting in our family bible as well is a name "Mrs Dyer" .... no one has a clue as to who she is, my bet it could be Anne Dyers mother, but I wouldnt put money on it at this stage.
Would you mind sending me any info you have on your Elizabeth Dyer ..? I can send you what I have on Anne.
Have you done a search on shipping lists? I can remember doing a search and found a few Dyer's but none of them were the one I was looking for. Your one must have come through Lyttlton or Port Chalmers seeing she was at Waimate. My Anne may well of came through there as well ... she had been a resident for a few years before she tied the knot with Henry Revell going by the wedding Cert if you can believe that. My last calculation was that she was in her early teens when she came to NZ so must have come out accompanied?

Cheers
Rex

Hi there Mila. Im afraid that I still havent found any more info on our Anne Dyer. At the moment trying another slant on her. Got 2 names on her marriage cert that were witnesses to her marriage and hopefully they maybe close friends of hers. One appears to be British Army, the other I havent tracked down, still working on her. Seems strange that your Dyer is from the same area of Ireland. Your Elizabeth Dyer, do you want me to do some digging here in NZ? Would be easier my end being in NZ [ you in the UK? ] Would be a pleasure in helping you if I can, have had many ppl in the UK help me in the past and if I can return the favour would repay in part their help

How did you get on with the Kingcombe connection ? I have a John Kingcombe and Thomasine Kingcombe in my Tree who came from Revelstoke Devon. Any connection ? There is also a Crocker that married into the line as well, they were from the Revelstoke/Noss Mayo/Newton Ferrers area as well.

I am trying to find any info on a John Higgs or a Henry Dyer. They both appear on the Griffiths Valuation. Both from the Townland of Knockmay Parish of Clonenagh and Clonagheen. From what I can gather they leased houses from Viscount De Vesci. Have you or anyone come across the names Higgs or Dyer in marriage or burial records ? I have a gt gt grandmother who came to New Zealand [ Anne Dyer ] in the early 1870s, and married a Henry Revell in Wanganui NZ 1863. Her marriage cert quotes her mothers name as Maria Higgs and her fathers name as ? Dyer. Born in Queens County Ireland 1839/40.
Hopefully this John Higgs or Henry Dyer are related to our Anne Dyer. She is a real mystery to all the family here in NZ as no one has any info on her at all. We have been unable to trace any ship she could have come out on, or whether or not she came out on her own.
Any pointers from anyone greatly appreciated
