Hi, Interesting to read about your family connection to Tillery. I have done no more research on Tillery since '09 as I had all the information I needed plus the photo. (I do hope I sent the photo to Peter M Smith !!). Don't worry about not being 'landed gentry!!'. Good heavens, most our ancestors from Scotland who were those first settlers in New Zealand in the early and mid 1800's went out to get a job to survive! Our ancestors made the most of it, survived earthquakes for the first time (my ggf used it as a time line - things that happened before the big earthquake (?1880's) and things that happened after the big earthquake) etc. They had to build their own houses, find/grow their own food etc. To survive was in their blood. Hi Sandra, I'm  only too happy to keep you informed of any developments re contact with Southside Cemetery. I've checked on my other contact with them and it was in March 2010. Unfortunately I didn't keep the reply so cannot determine where it actually came from in the end.
 However, I had a receipt for US $5 from Carnegie Library of PGH 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15213408  4126223104  stapled to the copy of the Death Certificate (I remember sending this lonely little note) which looks as though it was off a website??? On the back of the Death Registration written in handwriting, was Pittsburgh Death Registration, 1870-1905 Vol. 71:513 (not in my handwriting).

Thank you RJ137, Sandra and hanes teulu for all your help. I have gone through everything you have suggested again but his death data still eludes me.  However, I will contact the South Side Cemetery re burial with his first wife Sarah, as they were most helpful some years ago when I was in the same situation regarding John Batten's sister Elizabeth Jane Breach(also ex NZ) who is buried in the same Cemetery.

I have a few photos of Honor and Christine Ellis which were given to me by another descendant of that line. Erica Douglas Kirk was born in Gairloch Scotland in 1940, but now lives in Spain. She would be a fount of information for you. I can forward her email address to you once you have had 5 posts and are able to send personal messages, as we cannot make public any data like that. I think I'm right there.
