Aberdeenshire Lookup Requests / Re: Lookup - TILLERY / TILLARY
« on: Thursday 30 March 23 00:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Interesting to read about your family connection to Tillery. I have done no more research on Tillery since '09 as I had all the information I needed plus the photo. (I do hope I sent the photo to Peter M Smith !!). Don't worry about not being 'landed gentry!!'. Good heavens, most our ancestors from Scotland who were those first settlers in New Zealand in the early and mid 1800's went out to get a job to survive! Our ancestors made the most of it, survived earthquakes for the first time (my ggf used it as a time line - things that happened before the big earthquake (?1880's) and things that happened after the big earthquake) etc. They had to build their own houses, find/grow their own food etc. To survive was in their blood. Good luck with your research. Faith Green

Me again Sandra, While typing my reply to you I thought of doing some checking myself to cover all the Deaths but nothing came to light. He did live in Michigan for a while ......... but at that age I can hardly see him living on his own again.

Hi Sandra, I'm  only too happy to keep you informed of any developments re contact with Southside Cemetery. I've checked on my other contact with them and it was in March 2010. Unfortunately I didn't keep the reply so cannot determine where it actually came from in the end.
However, I had a receipt for US $5 from Carnegie Library of PGH 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15213408  4126223104  stapled to the copy of the Death Certificate (I remember sending this lonely little note) which looks as though it was off a website??? On the back of the Death Registration written in handwriting, was Pittsburgh Death Registration, 1870-1905 Vol. 71:513 (not in my handwriting).
New Year Greetings and keep well. Faith

Thank you RJ137, Sandra and hanes teulu for all your help. I have gone through everything you have suggested again but his death data still eludes me.  However, I will contact the South Side Cemetery re burial with his first wife Sarah, as they were most helpful some years ago when I was in the same situation regarding John Batten's sister Elizabeth Jane Breach(also ex NZ) who is buried in the same Cemetery.
Keep Covid 19 free, all of you. Faith

I have tried to find the death date and place of the above John Batten, born in London, Eng. Feb. 1828 He emigrated to Canada with wife Sarah and 2 chn in 1869, I have details of all of them except the death of John. He is mentioned in the Pittsburgh Daily Post on 21 Feb/ 1918, his 90th birthday, living with his daughter, Amy Pell but cannot locate his death after that.
Would love some help please to complete details of this large family of Battens, my main family line. I have tried on this site before a few years ago but am now hoping some other resources may have come to light.
Always hopeful!
From  Faith Green - NZ -- very mindful of the Covid 19  problem round the world at the moment.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Edward Green - Nelson
« on: Wednesday 13 May 20 03:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi All - Trying to contact a Marty Green, N.Z., who has contributed to the data of my Great Grandfather, Edward Green  (1818 - 1896) Nelson, N.Z., and so many of his descendants over recent times. It may be that some of my data may add to hers and new data she has that may assist me. Keeping my fingers crossed. Barrie Green, Palmerston North.

Hi Lorna

I looked and looked at your name as it seemed so familiar!!!! I even have photos of you!
Now you must really ask Erica about what she has on the family. As you know she does email now. Over the last few years I have swapped data with her as well as photos. Barrie and I have just moved into a Retirement Village in Palmerston North and finally I can now devote some time to filling in lots of gaps and getting that Heath family and the descendants onto our Family Tree.
Great to make contact. Erica has my email address.
Wonderful and keep in contact.
Faith

Hi LornaU2
Lovely to hear from a relative!
I have a few photos of Honor and Christine Ellis which were given to me by another descendant of that line. Erica Douglas Kirk was born in Gairloch Scotland in 1940, but now lives in Spain. She would be a fount of information for you. I can forward her email address to you once you have had 5 posts and are able to send personal messages, as we cannot make public any data like that. I think I'm right there.
Once that is done send me a personal message.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Faith Green of the Norah Batten Line! Mine was the eldest, yours was the youngest!
