What was the philately connection?

I am doing reseasrch on Joseph Ades Fowler and his son Henry Ades as an interest in philately (stamps).  I am trying to find a) Joseph's 1st wife's death Mary Heathcote Green and b) where and when his 2nd marriage to Mary Thompson.  Interesting to note Joseph's tombstone is dedicated by his 5 children.

Hi Suz,

Thanks for the message. Basically looking for info on 'what happened next' and what happened before, during. Only been able to access the census' in 1851 61 and 71

Also of info on the places where they live, whther it still exists, whether any of the fowlers from this line still live in brighton. If anyone had any images, anything at all really.

Kind regards

Andy

All the children were born in Brighton. Other than John who moved to Tonbridge and had my Nan I have very little other information on the Fowlers family. It seems they came from Devon but majority of information I have on fowlers is speculative and from what living relatives can vaguely remember.

Estimated dates from the ages in the 1851, 61 and 71 census'
John b 1839
hannah b 1841
Henry 1844
Joseph 1850
Benjamin 07/03/1853

Thank you.

Hello Rootschatters.

I am trying to obtain some information, and wondered if anyone had any information, on the Fowler family residing in brighton from mid 1800s. (my gt gt grandfather)

It starts with a Henry fowler born in Plymouth but appears in the 1851 census living at 8 Charles Street, kemp town, brighton.

14 years earlier he married in St pancras Middlesex to an Ellis Ades.

In 1861 Henry is a Draper, living at 87 london road, brighton with his wife and children, including Benjamnin Ades Fowler who left Brighton between 1871 and 1881 to kent (my nans parents). Joseph (who allegedly emigrated to Canada) Henry, Hannah and James who was a Drapers assistant and died in Brighon in 1903.

Ellis Fowler (nee Ades) died in Steyning.

john Fowler's family were still in Brighton in 1901.

If anyone can shed any light I would appreciate it as the fowlers are proving a little elusive!

Regards

Andy

Hello,

My earliest 'Saltwell' I have on my tree (my great grandmother was Sophia Mary Saltwell, 1885 in romford) is her Grandfather John born around 1819 married a Sally who bore 8 children in Upminster area.

Does this tie in with any of your research

Hello all,

I have a Rebecca Wakeling born around 1770 married into my family in the Springfield / Danbury area of Essex. Does she tie in to any of your Wakelings?

Regards

Andy
