Hello Naibr,

Thanks for your reply.  I am still interested and would like to know if the building is still there and where it is.  If so what is it used for and if not where did the records go?

Regards,

Diane

Thank you dingdong and charlotteCH.  I'm sorry I've not responded sooner but better late than never.  I really do appreciate your help.

It's a great shame that the last generation were reluctant to talk about unmarried Mothers.  It seems to have created areas of unhappiness.  Today we have no problems whatsoever which I feel is as it should be.

Incredible.  After over 3 years I get 2 contacts on the same day!  Thank you so much for your replies.

Gail,

My G Grandfather Charles George Hollingshead m 1st wife Mary Anne Slater.  Their son Arthur m Ellen Roughsedge Mercer 7.8.1882, Toxteth.  Their daughter was Edith Ellen Rossina Hollingshead.

We are obviously tenuously related but it's beyond my brain power to work it out!

If you wish, please PM me with your email address and I'll gladly share what info I have.

Dazey,

Edith E R Hollingshead was 57 when she married Ernest J Wenham (aged 38) 1949.  He was living at 13 Hythe Road at the time.  When Edith died in 1965 they were both living at 19 Stafford Rd so he was with her for 16 years.  He then possibly remarried 4 years after her death.

As I said to Gail, if you wish please PM me with your email address and I will gladly share information.

Once again, thank you both for your replies.

Hi EarthlySparky,

Sorry for the delay in replying.  I had to contact Neil for his permission to send you his article as obviously the copyright is his.  He has no objection on the condition that the article is not published.  As I don't know how to send via this site will you give me your email address (via a PM?) and I'll get the file to you.

I would also much appreciate your sources for the information you've sent.  I record everything within Family Tree Maker with source information so that in the future any alterations can be made easily and correctly.

My info on Owen was from the US Census forms.

Regards,

Hello,

What a lovely surprise!  I have followed Owen J Thomas (brother of my G Grandmother) from St Helena to Boston, Mass. USA and through 2 more generations.  Owen's son Robert E. Thomas b1880 Mass. m Florence R. and Robert's son Gordon E. Thomas b c1902.  I haven't got any further on this line.  Any information would be gratefully received and I will of course share any of my information that I can.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Mary Blackburn born Keswick 1842
« on: Tuesday 15 March 11 23:33 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for the quick reply CaroleW.  This could possibly mean that the Jul/Sept birth record is the wrong one and I should perhaps try for the earlier birth record.  I didn't think to try the IGI.

Thanks again,

Diane

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Mary Blackburn born Keswick 1842
« on: Tuesday 15 March 11 23:09 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to babtism records for Keswick 1842.  I am looking for Mary Blackburn who on the 1851 Census is 8 years old, born Keswick to Joseph and Isabella Blackburn.  This census record is in the township of Whitehaven, Ecclesiastical District of Saint Nicholas.

I have found 2 possible births on FreeBMD in the Cockermouth reg district which I think covers Keswick but cannot afford to buy them both.  I am hoping the babtism will help me decide between  the April/ June and the July/September registrations.

Many thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply Stacey.    I'll do more research with the information you've supplied and with luck it will prove to be very useful.

Thanks again,

Diane

Thanks Barbara.  I had looked at this but just seemed to go round in circles.  Nothing was resolved so I thought I'd try again as that thread was over a year ago.

Thanks again for your reply,

Diane
