Jacquie
Thank you for that information.
Your death certs show so much more info than ours.
His Attestation papers have given me a lead to follow here - the fact that he had served with the Kings regiment.

If there is any info about his marriage to Maria Parsons and any subsequent children, I would be most grateful.

Incidentally, Paul Haydn Keogh was my great grandmother's nephew.

Thank you again

Canada Lookup Request / Keogh
« on: Thursday 06 June 13 05:49 BST (UK)  »
Looking for information about Paul Haydn Keogh born 1883 in Liverpool England.
I have Ancestry but would need someone with world membership to access his Canadian records.
I know he was a member of the Canadian military in WW1.
I think he emigrated arriving in either Halifax, Nova Scotia or St John, New Brunswick around 1913 but not sure of that date.
I have no idea whether he married or when or where he died.
Any information would be gratefully received.

Lancashire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: BROUGHTON HALL LIVERPOOL
« on: Wednesday 12 September 12 00:59 BST (UK)  »
The Broughton Hall I recall is a Catholic Girls High school, in Honeysgreen Lane, West Derby.
The next door school is now Cardinal Heenan High school for boys and this was originally the orphanage from about 1870.
The School is now to be knocked down and rebuilt.
I presume from this, that the orphanage would have been run by nuns.

I tried googling but didn't get very far.
Hope this helps a bit.

Cheshire / Re: Brocklehurst

Thank you for looking.
I am not looking for any information concerning Moses Lowe.
He was my great grandfather, a tinsmith in Liverpool with a very successful business.
His marriage to Mary Elizabeth was a second marriage, his first wife having died in 1879.
It came as a complete surprise when I found it, 1) because of the age. He was 22 years her senior and 2) because of what appears to be a lowly background for her ie: illegitimate, although that would be rich as one of his daughters appears to have had at least 3 illegitimate children.

This was possibly why they were married in Horwich, so that the family could say nothing.

Cheshire / Brocklehurst

Hi,
Not sure if this should be here or Lancs as it covers both counties.
Looking for info on Mary Elizabeth Brocklehurst.
Here's what I have:

Born 1872 Dutton, Runcorn
1897 Birth of daughter Eva, registered in Northwich
1901 census - living in the home of Moses Lowe in Liverpool with her 4 year old daughter Eva, down as visitors.
1905 Horwich, Bolton - marriage to Moses Lowe. Mary shown as spinster - no father.
1911 Census - living in Liverpool with Moses. Daughter Eva now has the name Lowe.
This census also shows that Mary had 2 children, both living.

What I am looking for -
Where was Mary Elizabeth Brocklehurst in 1881 and 1891.
Who was her other child and where were they in 1901 and 1911.

I doubt that the other child was Moses Lowe's.
I have searched and searched and hope fresh eyes might help.

The only other info I have found that might be relevant is an Emily Brocklehurst born
in 1877 Dutton, Runcorn. She is on 1881 census as adopted and living with a George
and Elizabeth Haddock, in Barnton, Northwich.

Hope someone can help.

Lancashire / Re: Marriage hard to find
« on: Thursday 13 October 11 14:04 BST (UK)  »
Very confusing. ???
I have a similar problem.
The father's christian name varies from birth certificate to birth certificate
and then marriage certificate.

I've just about given up trying to sort it out. :'(
At least the surname stays consistent and there aren't any brothers to confuse the issue. Hope you manage to solve yours!
