Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: Illman family of Nutfield 1841 and 1851 census
« on: Saturday 23 December 23 11:00 GMT (UK)  »
I posted ages ago!
Thankyou for the information but not sure why I asked!
My Gx 2 grandfather Josiah Illam was born 1820 Burstow son of Richard and Mary Illman.
The family moved to Strood Kent not sure when but Richard remarried 1835 in Strood.
Best wishes from Perth Australia.🦘🎄🦘

Hi Dale John.
Have you found any connection to my McCelland family?
As I said my family must have come from Scotland to Ireland but yet to find who did!

Thankyou so much for your help.
I can’t find a connection to anyone from Scotland but I have 23% Scottish DNA on my mother’s side.
But Agnes Lumsden was born in Scotland!
I only know my mother said her middle name was from her mother’s aunt Jean who lived in Scotland!
Only 4% Irish DNA!
Thankyou again.
Happy New Year from Perth Australia.

I did some more research and Sarah was only 14 at the time of my grandmother’s birth!
I wonder if she was the mother and her sister and brother in law looked after the baby or there was a mix up when the baby was registered!

Yes this is the information I have now but there is alittle confusion as David wife was a Mary Ann nee Heaney with a sister Sarah!

Australia / Re: George William/ Wilfred Dixon

Lots of good information thank you all. It’s clear William/ Wilfred are one and the same!
Yes he served in WW1 from 1917 in the Worcester 2/8 battalion and took up theology and service in the anglican church in South Australia and Cumberland as a result. Then in 1937 he joined the navy, serving on HMS Ajax at the start of the war. For some reason it appears he used ‘William’ rather than Wilfred when he could.
