I have now found  her parents on 1891 census John and Mary Williams in Canton Cardiff
John 47 from Brecon and Mary35  from St Ives Cornwall . with sons Albert 16 and Frederick 5 both b Ashwater? Devon and David 5 b Cardiff.
Alma Jane is 2yrs old .
We also know from family info that she had a sister Mary also with her in the Workhouse School  who later in life lived in the Rhondda valley
Need to go to Glamorgan Records office next re Workhouse School to get more facts
Thanks

Thanks again cardiff Margaret b 1865 is a poss as we already have a b/c for humphrey her brother/step for 01.08.1867
So Margaret 3rd Q 1865 will be worth pursuing.
What happened to John Darcey and sons patrick and Thomash ? are not exactly in my family line
His Gt Gds are researching that side of the family

Diolch cadiff    This gets complicated in answer to your questons

1  Yes I have Frances & John Darneys M/cert -St Dubritius RC Ch Treforest her father Thomas Madden Shoemaker .
2  Also I Have Humphreys b/cert b Cardiff Love Lane 01.08.1867 M  Frances Madden  F Michael Sullivan and  have details of his baptism St Davids RC Ch Cardiff 03.08.1867 m Frances Madden & F Michael Sullivan so it appears they were not married as both surnames are used.

3  Michael Sullivan next appears on the 1871 Census in Cwmbran with wife Margret2 Madden but they also have his son Humphrey(my GrFth) b1867 Cardiff and a daughter Margaret1  b1866 Aberdare
Daughter Margaret 1  is the problem child -----
Q1 Who are her parents ? born Aberdare  points to Frances
Q2 Who is Margaret2 the mother where did she spring from? Has Frances had a name change?

4  Next I have the m/cert for Michael Sullivan & Margaret Madden2  in Pontypool in 1870 Margarets father is listed as Thomas Madden Shoemaker same father as Frances

I also have an 1861  census for Thomas Madden and family in Aberdare but no Margaret or Frances
but we know Frances has married John Darney and 1861 c confirmed in records as living with him and family in Aberdare

The plot thickens we can make assumptions but the key is Margaret1 who are her parents ?
Her b/c would settle all the questions all we know is she was born 1866 .It must have been early in the year because Huphrey was born in August i.e if they have the same mother

Hope you can sort this out I've all margaret's  Gt and gt gt  Grandaughters waiting for the answer

Thanks I've got the census details  info,  I'm really looking for descendants who may be able to supply vital links answers in the main to Frances (nee Madden) Darney and Margarets possibly her daughter b 1866 Aberdare or Cardiff father John Darney?
Later Frances Madden we know had a son Humphrey in Aug 1867 b in Cardiff father Michael Sullivan but no trace of M/cert ,
Humphrey next appears in Cwmbran 1871c  as son of Michael Sullivan and Margaret(nee madden) m 1870 together with a daughter Margaret b1867Aberdare
Margarets birth is the key but cannot trace any record that fits
