Travelling People / Re: Gaskins
« on: Sunday 18 March 12 20:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi chadwick52,
I have several photos of Ruth which were given to me by my grandmother.
I also have a newspaper cutting of the funeral of John Gaskin the brother of Ruth.[from 1930's.]
My gran said to me that Ruth smoked a pipe and that even into her seventies would walk from Kelvedon to Tiptree every day to sell pegs!

Hi my great grandmother was Ruth Gsakin and I found her living in Wanstead/Leytonstone in the 1881 census.
My grandmother told me that her mum[Ruth] had brothers and sisters including Job and John and her father was called Henry.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi,
I had family in Attleborough with the name Smith who were romany gypsies.
John Smith was the head of the family and died in the1970's.
He was married to a lady with the maiden name Lamb they had two children Mary and Leafy.
John was my grandmother's oldest brother[my great uncle].
Their father was called Owen Smith and his father was called Woodlock Smith.
Woodlock was an evangelist and his nephew was Gypsy Smith the well known evangelist.
I hope this can help you.
