Hi Graham - yes I agree with you about William and the girls and have now removed them from my tree.  Looked last night for marriage etc of Elizabeth Augusta but couldn;t find anything - have you?

All my sources have been from various genealogy sites, mainly ancestry though.  I didn't know about the Essex site so thanks for that.  You confused me a bit with your last bit of info [easily done after a day at work!].  You mentioned a will for William Golding married to Elizabeth Smith and referred to John Smith as nephew but I thought you had previously said Elizabeth was married to John Mayes - in that case John would be a nephew but relationship to William Golding and John was grandson?

Where did your line of the family end up - are you in the London area and do you have builders??

Dads cousin John Smith lives in Romford so his ancestors didn't venture too far from Bromley by Bow!

Look forward to hearing from you - in 4 years you are the first person to have an interest in 'my Smiths' other than immediate family.  By the amount of research you have done I probably don't have any additional info to recipricate but you never know so just ask.

Run out of space - sorry

I had Sarah Goldings parents as William and Sarah not Susan?

Always wondered why Elizabeth[Freestone] was not on the 1841 census with the family so thanks for solving that mystery!

You have also filled in gaps for baptisms so many thanks.  Look forward to hearing back from you, especially to know what your connection is - are we related??  I went to Ashen church a couple of years ago - found gravestones for Goldings but no Smiths??!!I wonder where the first John came from?  My Dad has his cousin John Smith visiting next week - I am surrounded by them!!!!!

Take care and thanks again

Hi Graham

Thanks for all the information you have been busy.

Are you a member of the extended Smith clan?  I am a descendant of Henry born 1837.

We have a couple of differences in information - mine I have gathered from various sites but with the detail you have I take it you have been to St Augustine's records?

These are our differences:
John Smith [son of John and Susannah] i have birth as 1813 not 1810
I also have 3 more children Susannah born 1811, Ann Martha and Sarah Amelia born 1827 though their mum would have been quite old to have produced the last 2?
Was John Mayes that you refer to Susannah Mayes brother?
Children of marriage between John and Elizabeth Freestone - you have Elizabeth Augusta 1842 but I don;t have her I have got William born 1842?

Hello Both

Thank you both for your very kind offers and apologies Denise for misunderstanding your first message.

A name not on the list is Harold Dawson Claude Redworth born bet Jul-Sep 1893 Uxbridge, married Gladys Baguley Jun 1918 in Shrewsbury and died in the 1960's, however have been unable to find date of death but know he lived in Shrewsbury - last known address was close to the Abbey.

William Partridge born 1813 Pulverbatch died Atcham Oct-Dec 1884 married Mary Cross born Hyssington Montgomeryshire died Oct-Dec 1883 Atcham would like to know date of marriage, their first child June was born apprx 1835 in Church Pulverbatch.  Father of William was Thomas, born Pulverbatch who married Ann Wilson at St Chads in 1811, died 1865 would like to know where.  His wife was born abt 1786 Shropshire but I have been unable to take this line back any further - any help appreciated.

William Taylor born apprx 1796 would like to know where, married Mary Ann Thomas [born apprx 1802] 1 Oct 1818 in High Ercall Died 1873 Atcham - have been unable to take this line back any further or that of his wife Mary Ann.

I feel that all of the above are big asks for anyone to put themselves out to look, but if it hasn't put you off or you want to know if I have any more info then please shout.

Thank you both for taking an interest whatever
xx
