Family History Beginners Board / Re: Help! Can't Find Source!
« on: Thursday 26 May 22 16:27 BST (UK)  »
Welcome to Rootschat! I looked at FreeREG first, and found his baptism; 13/11/1822 living at New Road, Radford. Notts. Father John, Mother Frances-John was a Signalman on the railway. You obviously have Ancestry as you say you looked him up but didn't find anything, well there is loads of information on him on there at least 14 different items including a photograph plus a newspaper clipping of his WW1 war death in 1917. His marriage was 23/5/1904 in Leeds to Ellen Lynch. I will leave you to find all the rest in fact you may well have some of it, but may not have recorded where you found it.
Regards.

Cumberland / Re: Carruthers & Armstrong in Lanercost 1755
« on: Friday 13 May 22 16:39 BST (UK)  »
There are 3 Mary Armstrong's baptised in Lanercost 19/11/1729 Father John;14/11/1728 Father William; 17/4/1734 Father Jude Armstrong. The last one looks more likely, and she would have been about 21 when she married William Carruthers. There are trees online, one of which has William born to a Jane Carruthers, baptised 2/2/1731 Brampton, Cumberland, her birth date is down as 1706 Brampton. It also states that William died in Ireland 2/4/1795. All needs checking out of course.

Sussex / Re: The children of Arthur and Ann FOSTER
« on: Friday 06 May 22 16:28 BST (UK)  »
There is a burial for a Mary Foster 28/11/1853 aged 45 yrs  in Worthing, Sussex, which could be her. The marriage for Jane Foster to Thomas Cooper was 1838 not 1832, so she would have been 23 yrs old. Jane and Martha both made their mark, so Martha may well have given her name as Foster or just said she was Jane's sister. Couldn't find anything on Robert, but there is a marriage for a William Foster to a Emma Piper Wisborough Green.

Somerset / Re: John EADES (1831-??) of Chewton Mendip
« on: Wednesday 20 April 22 16:03 BST (UK)  »
Can't find John Eades in 1841. There is a baptism for him 18/4/1831 Chewton Mendip-Parents John and Martha-John is a Labourer and surname spelt Eads. Also baptism for Anna Maria Eads same details 18/11/1828. There is also a death on FreeBMD for a John Eades District Wells/Volume5c/Page437-Mar Qtr 1857, so you could get the death certificate and see if any of the family are mentioned as being present at his death.

Dorset / Re: Frank Roland Locke and father, John William Locke
« on: Monday 04 April 22 17:24 BST (UK)  »
Not quite as easy as a yes or no I am afraid! This is what I have found however; in 1901 the family are on the census with Frank aged 13 years, but the surname is Loche, father William is there. 1891 I believe it is the correct family, but they are listed as Ingram for the surname having been transcribed as the family above's surname, Frank is 3 years old, and appears to have been born in Poole, Dorset. Hope this helps.

Surrey / Re: St George Camberwell - Burials
« on: Monday 04 April 22 14:47 BST (UK)  »
How long ago were the flats built. The Planning Department at the Council for the area would show in the plans what was required before the flats were built. They do have to keep records, but don't know how many years they have to keep them for.
