Sussex Lookup Requests / East Sussex Quarter Sessions- SIMES
« on: Monday 28 February 11 15:37 GMT (UK)  »
I was typing random names into google and came across an index for the East Sussex Quarter Sessions for one of my surname interests which is SIMES in1810-1854 page 191. I have a number of SIMES in my family during that period and wondered if this was one of them- a criminal not a victim!

My family are from Catsfield, Battle, Etchingham, Ticehurst.

I understand that there is a book/Cd which gives more information. I know this is unlikely to be a match but I am intrigued.......

If anyone has this information and can stop me wondering I would be very grateful!

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Records for Wokingham Workhouse
« on: Monday 21 February 11 17:25 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to records for Wokingham Workhouse please? I am looking for info on Fanny (Frances) Marshall nee Spencer ( 5 X GG Gmother) who died there 1 Jan 1867 aged approx 76-79. Her husband Moses died in 1858 so I think she was alone as her children would all have been in their 30's.

Any information you can advise would be helpful
Many thanks
Dawn

Berkshire Lookup Requests / St Nicholas, Hurst records
« on: Saturday 19 February 11 20:17 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for baptism records for:
Mary Ann Rowe b. 1849
George Rowe b. 1851
Henry Rowe b.1855
John Rowe b. 1857
Emley/Emily Rowe b. 1867
Louisa Rowe b. 1870

Parents name are Mary Ann Fursdon and John Rowe. On the 1861 census they were living in Old Barn Lane, Hurst which I presume no longer exists? I can find no record of their marriage which could also be in Sonning or Aldworth, Berkshire.
Thank you!

Berkshire Lookup Requests / All Saints, Swallowfield
« on: Saturday 19 February 11 20:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching my family history and believe that a number of my relatives had associations with All Saints Church, Swallowfield.

Family names are Bray, Barker, Hunter.(1730- 1830 ish)

I wondered if you could advise me on where to locate the parish records so I can research further. I came to the church today and looked around the graveyard but found nothing. I would expect most of the inscriptions to have faded anyway.
Many thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer

Berkshire Completed Look ups / St James, Finchampsead COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 19 February 11 19:46 GMT (UK)  »
I am hoping that someone can assist me please. I am looking for the marriage record of Martha Marshall b. 1809 in Finchampstead and Henry Barker b. 1809 in Swallowfield. They were married on 8 July 1833 but I am not sure where. I thought perhaps St James may be the church as she was born there.  I would also like to know the names of Martha's parents and any siblings she may have had. Maybe they were baptised at St James?
Many thanks
Dawn

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Hanney look up please- Josey/Rowe
« on: Saturday 19 February 11 19:05 GMT (UK)  »
I am hoping that may be able to help me with my family history. I am looking for information on a Sarah Josey or Josee who I believe was born in Hanney on 6 June 1874. She married William Rowe in 1806 but not sure where.
I have much conflicting information, I believe her father was Tim Josey b. 1755 d. 1815 but her mother has been suggested as Ann Jorden b. 1755 d. 1843 or Mary Legg b. 1748 or even Hannah?

Children listed potentially as:

Thomas b. 1806
Ann b. 1808
Rachel b.1810
Martha b. 1812
Hannah b. 1814
George b. 1817   d. 1899
William b. 1821
James b. 1822
John b. 1827
Mary b. 1829

Does anyone have access to baptism, marriage or burial records for Hanney, Berkshire please?
Many thanks
Dawn
