Monmouthshire / Monmouth cemetery burial query

Hi

I'm looking to track the burial of Dorothy Bowers and her family. There were from nearby Herefordshire originally, but lived in Monmouth on New Dixton Road  prior to and during WW2.

I've tried learning about burial registers in Monmouth, without success. The father Albert Bowers died in Nov 1943. Is anyone able to check Monmotuh cemetery burial indexes, or point me to them?

More info on Bowers here:

Many thanks,
matt

Herefordshire / Re: Tupsley and surrounds - Dorothy BOWERS

Many thanks rosie99,

I had the birth/death information. The limited biographical information matches the 39 reigster - she lived with her parents in Monmouth. Apparently at some point in WW2 she lived in London and worked in public service for the war effort (relying on my memory here). By '47 she was in Lupton, as the copyright for her final book published that year gave her evidence as Lupton.

Her parents were originally from Hereford and Colwall, and that may be why she ended up there. Didn't find a death notice for the mother.

While mother's death was registered in that Hereford area, I'll check the Monmouth area cemetery registers too (if they exist...).

Are there any aggregated Herefordshire cemetery indexes - an OPC for example?

Thanks JONW65 ; I knew there was a Will, but was unaware of that service - have just ordered it!

I'm trying to work out where Dorothy BOWERS is buried. She published several books, and her death notice says she died 29 August 1948 (aged 42) in TUPSLEY.

I have not been able to trace her headstone, and no detailed biography exists to provide exact details. One biographical note states that she was buried near TUPSLEY "near her mother" - so there may be more than on BOWERS burial.

Anyone have access to Herefordshire burial indexes - and more specifically TUPSLEY - who could check for her burial?

Thanks,
matt

Australia / Re: South Australia help - EWER
« on: Tuesday 02 July 19 17:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi Derek,

Thanks for finding this thread and reaching out. I had made a page on my blog trying to identify all EWER families that migrated to Australia in the 1800s, and their origins. I last updated it 6 years ago (yikes) but it captures all the families known: https://thehistoryofmatt.blogspot.com/2013/11/update-5-on-ewers-in-colonial-nsw.html

Could you look at the Adelaide section? Feel free to suggest edits. If you want to take a photo of the family bible page I'd be happy to add that to the blog post also!

cheers
Matt

Hi all - thanks again. I've posted some info on this family in my new post at randomfh.blogspot.com - this was inspired by a photo of a headstone that was sent back to family in England. As the name of the blog suggests, I like to explore the history of people i'm not related to based on a single 'artifact' I come across - newspaper article, photograph, headstone, etc.
