Surrey Completed Look up Requests / surrey lookup for Hughes Woking
« on: Thursday 10 November 05 19:39 GMT (UK)  »
I have found my Grandfather Frank Henry Hughes marriage to Esther Brennan In Ireland Jan 1912 it says his age was "full" meaning, I assume, he was 21 or over Frank's residence was given as Woking Surrey, but he was in the 2nd Royal Sussex Regiment.  Frank's marriage certificate gives his fathers name as Frederick Hughes, Engine Driver.  Is there any chance that someone could look up in any of the census' for Frederick Hughes around the Woking area?  Or any other help advice as to what/where else I could look would be really great.
Many Thanks :)

Kildare / Brennan & Kavanagh
« on: Wednesday 09 November 05 12:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
My Grandparents were Frank Henry Hughes and Esther Brennan.  I have managed to trace Esther's parents, who were John Brennan and Bridget Kavanagh.  Esther was born on 14 March 1894 in Ballysax.  John and Bridget were married on January 14 1884 at the Roman Catholic Chapel of Newbridge, in the Registrars district of Newbridge in the Union of Naas in the County of Kildare.  John's age was "full" which I am assuming is 21, there is no age for Bridget.  Both their Father's appear to be deceased, but I am having great difficulty in reading the photocopy of the entry.  I think their names were Laurence Brennan and Edward Kavanagh, but am not sure as these seem to be very "English" names.  Am I able to scan this entry and post on this site for others to look at?  Or can anyone help in any way please! ???
Many Thanks

Hi Kate
Sorry haven't replied sooner can't get wife or kids off the computer!!
I'm very new to all this genealogy stuff - what indexes do I look these up in?  If they were married in Ireland would they be the same indexes as if they were married in England?  I've looked at the BMD site and familysearch.org and wasted some money searching the 1837 site but with no luck.  Could this be because he was in the army and/or Ireland?
All sooooo confusing!

Completed Census Requests / Hughes Totnes/Kingswear 1891 Census
« on: Friday 29 October 04 16:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I think I could have found my Grandfather on the 1901 Census.  When this was taken he was 11.  Would someone be able to see if they can find him on the 1891 Census?  He was born in either Totnes or Kingswear in about 1890 his name was Frank Henry Hughes and his Mother's name was Elsie Hughes, who was born in Newington Kent, she was a widow in 1901 and her occupation was a Dress Maker.
Many thanks

My Grandmother Mabel Bull Married a ? Marsh, who died.  She then married, at the age of 23, my Grandfather Samuel Walter Bradford on 29 May 1916.  Samuel Walter Bradford also died 6 years later (what was she doing to them!!!) It would be nice to know the name of ? Marsh and any details, whether they had children etc.  Also any details on my Grandfather, Samuel, he was 21 when he married Mabel.  Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Sussex / Hughes/Bradford Seaford Marriage
« on: Thursday 07 October 04 17:49 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out about the marriage of my late father and mother.  Frederick John Hughes and Doris Mary Bradford.  I believe that they were married at Seaford Parish Church around 1940-45.  Unfortunately I do not have any relatives alive who would know these details, which I hope will get me started tracing back my family tree.  Any help big or small will be gratefully accepted.

Kildare / Esther Brennan Frank Henry Hughes - Curragh Camp - 1915
« on: Tuesday 05 October 04 21:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Am new to all this.  Need some help tracing my Father and Grandfather.  My Father was born on 19th November 1915 at Curragh Army Camp. His Father (my Grandfather) was serving with the British Army, 2nd Royal Sussex Regiment.  I assume he must have been in Ireland at around the time of my Father's birth/conception.  My Grandmother's name before marriage was Esther Brennan.  Anyone who may have any information, big or small, which may help me tracing my family would be gratefully accepted.  I dearly wish to trace back my family, but I have no surviving relatives (that I know of!) to help.
Many Thanks.
