New Zealand / Re: Wellington Archives Lookup - Coroner's Inquest File

Hello,

Our lovely Spades should be able to do this look up.   He should be able to confirm when he sees the title of the thread.

ADDED:  I have seen another request for a look up.   Wellington isn't in lockdown but there are the Covid guidelines for visiting.

Technical Help / Re: Windows 11
« on: Thursday 11 November 21 03:14 GMT (UK)  »
Installed Windows 11 on my day to day pc. Only problem I have had so far, was with saving data in Excel.
My laptop will not accept Windows 11, so it will stay with 10.

Regards

Malky

The only problem I had, was with one of my mail programs.  I could receive but not send. Didn't like Windows 11, and uninstalled it, back on Windows 10 and mail program back to normal.

Hi lil,

Welcome back. :D

Spades still visits Archives, when time permits.  I suspect the information you have given is information taken from index cards and probably there will be no further information, just reading by the record source.  In saying that I could be wrong.

Just to add a bit more for your thinking cap Minnie.

On the 1896 E/R Marion Johanna Newton Orr is a teacher/spinster, living in Gala St, Invercargill, James Orr, Invercargill, teacher.

1905/1906 for Otago a teacher along with Margaret Flora McKenzie Orr.

First appears in the North Island in 1919, sometimes without the Newton names.

So I am going to put down what I deleted in my post.

From the NZ Cemetery Records.

Along with the details of Marion, there is James Haldane, 72 years, died 3 Sept, buried 15 Sept 1962, Invercargill (dates given) .. and a John Bell Orr, aged 82 years, buried 19 Aug 1968 born Scotland.

So perhaps I am wrong in assuming that it isn't Marion... apologies.

Cheers
