Antrim / Re: Ballymoney Lookup Request

Thank you for this. I am having trouble finding the children Robert James and Ellen. Believe born in mid 1860s and it seems late for this couple. But these are the names they gave as their parents.  Really need a church. Thanks again.

Antrim / Ballymoney Lookup Request
« on: Tuesday 30 July 13 00:41 BST (UK)  »
Looking for contents of Ballymoney Vol 2 Page 279.  Marriage William J. Atkinson and Elizabeth Chestnut.  Interested in date, Church, Residence and Parents of either.

If not too much trouble, need children of these parents confirmed:  Robert James Atkinson and Ellen Atkinson.  Born before civil registration, so I can't find them.  Need birth years, townland, church.

Thank you for any help you can provide.  Visiting in September, and would like to know that these really are my great-grandparents.  I have their names confirmed from my own research.  Just need places and links to earlier ancestry.  Thank you very much.

Hi,

I saw your post and have just a little piece to share.  I have a William Norris in my tree born about 1818, Newtown Stewart, Tyrone.  His daughter is Margaret Norris.  Mother's name was Mary (maiden name unknown).  Lived in Arboe, Tyrone.   If this fits your geography at all, let me know as I have more information going forward from 1818.  Nice to hear from you.

Hello,

I have two English Birth Certificates that list the mother's name as Annie Jackson, formerly Tinsley.  Am I to assume that Tinsley is her maiden name, or does the word "formerly" have a significance  - that is to say that she may have been married before to a Tinsley, but that Tinsley is not her maiden name.  Hope this is clear.  If her maiden name were Tinsley, would it say "born Tinsley" or something like that?  There is no clearly defined field for "maiden name". Appreciate advice from someone more experienced.

Tyrone / where is aghacolumb - COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 20 November 08 14:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I have some civil records showing my Ferguson ancestor's "address" as Aghacollum and Aughacillum.  Would it be your opinion that these are all just different spellings of the same place?  The parish/district is given as Stewartstown in the first case and Cookstown in the second.

I have also found Aghacolumb on a list of Townlands and maps elsewhere on rootsweb.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether this place (Aghacolumb) still exists today and if anyone knows of any photos of the area.

I am the researcher with the 100 year old mother about to celebrate her birthday.  She very much wants to know where her mother was born.  Thanks always for your help.

Thank you for the information from Emerald Isle tne other info on the civil registration.  Does the forename Marane seem like a variant spelling for Marion to anyone.  Marion is a name that Ann gave one of her children and I had been thinking it came from Maryann or Mary Ann.  Marane is a name I am not familiar with.

Oh, and can anyone else confirm the possibility of a civil registration for the other Ann - the one  born 22 May 1865, Arboe, Tyrone?  Father William John and mother Margaret, no maiden name given?

Judith

ANN Ferguson born 29 May 1866 at 586 Stewartstown Tyrone
father William J Ferguson
fathers mother Marane Ferguson
Mother Margret Norris

hope this helps

this is a reg. birth not a christening
that why there is no church listed
