Thanks so much for your replies. John married in 1901,  states name of father but no mention of him being deceased. Margaret's death (Qld deaths)  has parents as the Joseph McDonald and Elizabeth Thompson married in 1852 in Angus. Have sent for the certificate of the death of Joseph in 1877.  ;)  ;)

Australia / Joseph McDonald

Looking for any information on Joseph McDonald who arrived in NSW in 1853, from Scotland. He had with him his wife Eliza(beth) Thom(p)son and his daughter Margaret born on the voyage. Trying to find a death for him possibly in Sydney.  Supposedly he was a joiner. Had a son, John, too in Australia. On John's death certificate his mother is noted as Elizabeth Thompson, but on his marriage certificate it is Elizabeth Campbell. Tearing my hair out!! Any ideas would be gratefully received.Sandra

Many moons ago I posted a question about William j Davis. In your reply you mentioned you had a lot of information about Rose O'Neill. On her mother's DC it is claimed that Rose was the daughter of an unknown "Davis" Her mother then had other children to a Daniel O'Neill. Thus the name Rose O'Neill. Can you provide me with any information about this?? Would be extremely grateful.

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Archibald Caldwell

Hi Kingskerswell,
Thanks for your reply much appreciated. The information I supplied re the leasing of the land was taken from an article printed in the Caledonian Mercury in 1851. The Phillis you mention I know about and there was also a daughter, Marion  born in NSW in 1959. James and Phillis arrived in Melbourne Victoria in 1855. Archibald was with them. We think he was born in 1852. As you can see from the dates the Caldwells were mentioned in the Griffiths Valuation it is probably not our James. Will keep looking....

Derry (Londonderry) / Archibald Caldwell

???Looking for the birth or a baptism of an Archibald Caldwell born around 1852. His father was James Caldwell and his mother Phillis. James was leasing 600 acres of land at Widgeon Lodge, Newtonlimvardy Londonderry. They moved there from Edinburgh Scotland in 1851. They were Presbyterian. Any ideas as to where to go to search would be accepted gratefully. As I am in Australia I do not know which church they may have attended in that area.  :)
