Devon / Re: George TICKLE

Hi there!

Sorry I’ve taken so long to reply; I’ve been dealing with an ongoing health issue.

I’d love to exchange information with you. I’ve also had DNA tests done, on FamilyTreeDNA and at Ancestry, and have matched with multiple descendants of William Tickle (my direct ancestor).

Oh no, I'm so sorry. :(

Somehow I forgot all about this thread, and have only now decided to look into this brickwall again.

Thank you so much!

Ah, thanks. :)

So, either the wrong person or they put the wrong first name down: Martha's youngest daughter (then only three) was called Hannah. No way of telling. :(

I have been trying to find the burial of my ancestor Martha Tickle for some years. Research from a cousin gave her a death date of 21 September 1830 and a place of death of Norfolk Street, Birmingham

Today I decided to recheck FindmyPast and I found a burial for a Hannah Tickell, buried 21 September 1830 aged 39, St Mary Whittal Street, the same place members of Martha's family were buried. The age is also consistent. I haven't been able to find any evidence of a Hannah Tickle that age in Birmingham at that time (all the Tickles of that time are relatives). The problem is the first name.

I'd be most grateful if someone, whilst visiting Birmingham Archives, could check the original register entry for me.

I hadn't thought of asking them. Thanks so much, I'll do that. :)

As for what extra information, I'm hoping that a relative was a witness on the marriage.

Hello :)

I found the details of this marriage in Pallot's Marriage Index for England.

Hy (Henry) Randall married Meliscent (Millicent) Ann Perry 11 May 1788, St Anne, Soho. I know the original documents are in Westminster Archives. I'm hoping some kind person will look it up for me (I'm on a limited income and the charges for making out British cheques are pretty high: I live in Australia). :)

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Two Marriages - early 19th century Bristol
« on: Thursday 01 December 11 20:38 GMT (UK)  »
Unfortunately, I believe three of them (David, Mary Ann, and James) died before the 1841 census: I have the Bristol burials CD for the time period and found  burials for David and Mary Ann in St Augustine, and James in St Phillips and Jacob (where he lived and baptised his children), all at an age that seems reasonable. I haven't been able to find any one of them in any of the censuses.

This is really annoying, since I'm trying to narrow down the parents of my ancestor Mary Ann Hill. She was the daughter of either David and Mary Ann (my personal favourite: if this is her she named two of sons, Edward and Frederick, after her brothers) or John and Jane (haven't even found a marriage for them). For that matter, I haven't been able to find most of their children in the censuses, and no burials for them either. There's only a few that I'm certain about, with no other members of their family living with or near them.
