Thank you both for your help. I think a visit to Wrexham would prove useful.

Thanks LLwyd,

Forgot to put he died in 1929 and at that time had a wife Mary who was a good deal younger than him, she was still alive in the 1950's but I don't know whether she stayed in Wales.

I am after help in tracing where my g.grandfather William Brooke was when he died. I have his death certificate which shows his occupation as Innkeeper and his place of death 8 Penry St, Rhos R.D. - Is this the pub address and what was it called?

Thanks in advance

Hello Doris,

This is the same family and I'm still confused and need to do some more investigation, to be honest I haven't looked at this bit for a while! I think I need to find out how Marie Bailey fits in, eg is she Keziah's older sister?

How do you fit in with the Leese family? Charles Lees(e) was my husband's great great grandfather on his mothers side his daughter Martha Marie having married Thomas Wakeley.

We live locally to Donnington and will persue this further and let you know anything I find out.

Best wishes

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 Lookup - WAKELEY
« on: Sunday 07 January 07 12:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Katie & Kazlee,

I am the other WAKELEY chaser!
I also have a William Wakeley b1866 in Lilleshall, he was the son of Thomas Wakeley b1838 and Sarah Bould, they are shown on the 1871 census as Wakely with brother Jabez and his wife Esther next door but one. I have this Esther with a maiden name Wakeley but can't remember if I had evidence of that (teach me to keep proper records).
Back to William it is entirely possible that they have got confused in my searches and I had wrongly assumed mine was the one with son Ivan. There appear to be 3 Williams born in 1866 shown on the 1871 census, mine son of Thomas, the one living with Doody grandparents and the son of Enoch and Mary living at the Old Timber Yard Lilleshall.

I need to do some further checking on this - I have a feeling they are all inter-related somehow but only a lot more info would say exactly who is who.

I'll just also throw into the mix at this time that my William's nephew Charles William Wakeley died in France in 1917, 'another cousin'.

Please let me know if you get any more detail and I'll do the same.

Thanks

Hi Pam,

I think I may have found something which could help you get further back. If you had Mary's birth certificate it would give you her father's name and her mother's maiden name. You could then check the parish registers for their marriage etc.
I had a look on familyrelatives for you and the only Mary Heighway I found in the period 1837-1838 was in Q4 1837 Registrars district Madeley Vol 18 page 81.

Good luck

I don't know if you've followed this line but it seems that Thomas married Sarah Roberts in Shifnal in 1862 (Quarter1 Vol 6a page 853). This marriage certificate should give his father's name.

Good luck
