Many thanks Mark - you're a star. Not sure how they fit in with my lot yet but I'm sure they do somewhere !  ;)

Jane - I had the same thought as you afterwards, probably wasn't the best place to post my message, sorry !  :-[

Thanks Jane  :D

I think this one might be mine :

Ironmonger: Sarah Offen, 3 Norman road west (b.1811, widow with 3 children)

It says the info comes from directories and the 1851 census - could someone (Chris?! ;) ) look and see who else is with her in the 1851 census please? I need the children's names to work out who she is  :-\

Many thanks in advance  :-*

This won't help you at the moment but we might tie up somewhere at some point ;)

I have a WILLIAM DOUCH (born 1868 in Hastings, parents WILLIAM DOUCH and MARY ANN VIDLER) who married into my SANDS line .... which originated in Dallington  ;D

I also have a couple of BONIFACES but I don't think we tie up there.  ;)

Good luck with the search
Cheryl (yippee, it's been months but I'm finally back to the family history !  ;D )

Thanks Chris - you're a mine of information :)

The frustrating thing is, I used to live just up the road from the Ore Burial Ground (yards away in Rye Road) but that was in the days before I got the family history bug so I never paid any attention  ::) Not so easy now I'm living across the Channel !  :-\ LOL

Does anyone know if there are any transcripts or if there are still stones standing in this cemetery?

I'm looking for my great-grandfather who's pretty elusive !  ::)

Alphonso (Alphonse Joseph) DELONNETTE died in 1908 (death registered in January quarter 1908 - district Hastings volume 2b page 8 - on Free BMD) and was buried in Ore cemetery (Winchelsea Road) on February 7th 1908 (Ore burials parish 435/1/5/5 (kindly provided by someone online) -  His age was recorded as 72 and his abode 45 Victoria Avenue, Ore. )

Just wondering if there would be anything else on his headstone ;)

Not sure, but I'll hunt out the link over the weekend (both my little girls have come down sick so I might not get too much computer time though !  ::) )

This could be totally unrelated or they could link in  ;)

I have an ISABELLA JANES SANDS (born 1867) who married a WILLIAM DOUCH (born 1868)  in 1895 in Hastings (his parents were WILLIAM DOUCH and MARY ANN VIDLER). Her parents were from Dallington (for more on this lot, see here ... http://cheryl2003.topcities.com/isabellajanesands1867.html )

BONIFACE is another name that links in with "my" lot ... a MARY WOOD(S) BONIFACE (born 1792) married HENRY BOURNE (born 1793) in Pevensey but they had lots of links to the Hellingly/Dallington/Upper Dicker crowd (see more here ... http://cheryl2003.topcities.com/henrybourne1793.html )

Have you tried the Boniface Internet Group (or something like that)? It's a huge online group with a huge database and I'm sure they could help you out. If you've never heard of them, let me know and I'll go hunting for the link ;)

Hope this helps,
Hugs,
Cheryl (yes, I actually made it back online ... unbelievable !!!  ;) )
