New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: John and Mary Smith - Central Otago

Hello Posters -
NZ BDM lists the 1899 birth of Mallelta May Dickey to Catherine McMorrine Dickey and Samuel Dickey – not
Catherine and William Dickey, as suggested.   No direct connection.  (I am a direct descendant of Catherine nee Smith/ PERRY and William Dickey).
Mallelta’s parents were married in 1898.
There is no direct connection to Mary & John Smith, ex Tasmania to NZ.   Catherine nee Smith/ PERRY/DICKEY was the daughter of Mary Smith, one of the subjects of this topic.   Regards – Dinny.

To DCB
David - Thank you for your reply to my query and for spending time.   I have managed to get that info from various sources.   The Boston / Wrangle info fits the bill.

Are you connected to these people?  One of their children is my g/g/grandmother.  Regards and thanks again.  Dinny.

PINKERTON
Hi Linde
Pinkerton.   My father’s sister (now deceased) told me more than once of holidaying as a child with Pinkerton relatives (from Ireland) in Dunedin New Zealand.    I am wondering if these Pinkertons may first have been resident in Australia before going to NZ.   Have no Christian names to attach.   According to directory there are Pinkertons in Dunedin area today.
My father & aunt’s  parents – Dickey & Connolly.  Both families originating from the North of Ire.
Regards – Dinny.

Kiltaglassan - Thanks for the helpful info.  Although I had the written detail of the location, I did not have a detailed map - from the other side of the world, not having visited Ireland where all my ancestors are from, I find specific locations a bit difficult.  Thanks again.  Regards - Dinny.

Sinann - Thanks - you are correct there was a discrepancy in age between the census of 1901 and her death reg. 1908.   Census 76Y   Death reg. 87Y.

Perhaps her family did not know her age and had to guess at time of death.  Meanwhile I shall concentrate my searching on Maggie.   Thanks again. Dinny.

Sinann - Thank you for your reply.   Ann is the sister of my g/grandmother and until you drew my attention to the link, the only other sibling my g/grandmother appeared to have was a brother, Joseph who disappeared from the Irish census by 1811.  He was listed with his mother in the 1901 census - a death for an Ann Robinson is listed as 1908 - her death was registered by her son in law, Robert Wilson at his address.

If there is anyone who has recollection or connection of this family, I would be pleased to hear from them.  Thanks and regards - Dinny.

Leicestershire / Re: Barry Stones

Thanks Carole.  Was not aware of this policy but....
I have no idea of the age of this man when I spoke to him nor his occupation (past or present);   it is approx. 14 years since I last messaged with him;   he is not available at the email address I have for him (my server is currently searching);   I have tried UK reference material for him and have come up with a number of unlikely Barry's  - in fact I have tried all avenues.  I would certainly not have placed such a query regarding someone who was still living,

Hence I mentioned the possibility of descendants (in those intervening 14 years, a lot could have happened and he may no longer be with us - which could make him a deceased person with descendants or previous contacts.)   Perhaps I should have declared my efforts to find a connection but regrettably, that did not occur to me.   This message is to explain my reasoning to others reading my post and I am looking for a connection to a person who may well be deceased, with descendants.

I am hoping someone out there may recognise my query and get in touch. I have information which will be of interest to him.   Thank you again for your advice.

Regards - Dinny.
