Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage lookup request - Yeomans - Derbyshire

Hi Carole,
Yes, this is part of the same exercise. Its very scary to realise that real life has got in the way of this for 9 months! I have however, come some way, having cut down a potential 7 Alfreds down to 3.

The Alfred whom I am referring to here is a different Alfred. I cannot identify him yet in 1881 and potential marriage would be from 1871 onwards. There is nothing obvious on familysearch.

thanks for your response

Hi there,
Could anyone who has access to Derbyshire parish records please see if they could find a potential marriage for this individual:-

I was recently given access to a box of love letters which had been sent to my great aunt who died recently and the age of 102. One series of letters comes from Private Harry Dryden 7365-822. According to my cousins, she spoke of Harry occasionally, but said she didn't know what happened to him. Is there any way of finding out what did happen, particularly seeing as he rather helpfully gave his service number at the top of one letter.

Many thanks

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: YEOMANS, Alfred c1856, Ednaston

Hi Spendlove,

I have my "Alfred" in the censuses between 1881 - 1911, all of which are after his marriage.
RG14/27626
RG13/4323/19/29
RG12/3781/17/28
RG11/4601/139/57

I know this is the right person. Unfortunately, when he married Alice Kay on 13 Aug 1877 at Silkstone, he did not name his father. I am now trying to be efficient and logical about this and I have ordered all the birth certificates for Alfred Yeomans born in Derbyshire between 1850 and 1862, of which there are several. The logic being that if I can track these people forward to 1881, I should be in a position to rule them in or out. However, one which did not have a birth cert was Alfred son of Samuel and Sarah. There is also an Alfred Yeomans living with his grandmother Ann Taylor in the 1861 census (don't know ref off top of head) who probably needs further investigation.

So that's where I'm at.

Thank you for your awesome summary!!

Hi everyone, I've not really had time yet to digest the implications of everyone's posts yet but I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

Thanks once again

Please could someone perform a baptism look up for me.

The person is Alfred Yeomans, son of Samuel and Sarah, born c1856 in Ednaston, Derbyshire. Despite multiple GRO purchases I am unable to locate a birth certificate for this individual so I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out by going down the parish register route.

Many thanks
Heather
