Technical Help / Re: Android Tablet
« on: Saturday 21 March 15 12:31 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you everyone.

WiFi speed??  No idea and no idea how I'd find out (not a bit technical I'm afraid).

My tablet is slow wherever I go and would seem to be a symptom of the tablet itself I think.

At the moment considering the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 £229.00??

Annette

I have the samsung galaxy tab 4 8" and paid about £180. I love it!

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Chislehurst Parish Baptism Lookup
« on: Thursday 13 March 14 13:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Chris,

Many thanks for providing this information for me. It has eliminated this Ann from my research and the quest carrys on.

I have been trailing the records again since CaroleW replied to my request and have found a Ann Challenger (could this have sounded as such with her accent) in 1851 born around the correct time , born Gloucestershire and  living at St George Hanover Square H0107 Piece 1476 Folio 213 Page 6. Although she is shown as single her husband was in Windsor Barracks and was also shown as single, suggesting maybe he hadn't had permission to marry?

I have also found on FreeBMD a registration for a Walter George Callender March Qtr 1851 in Marylebone and wonder if this might be my Walter.

So back to the drawing board.

Best Regards

Cathy

Hi CaroleW,

Thanks for the reply.

This person is my brickwall. I have searched for the last couple of years to find a birth registration for him.

On censuses his birth was down as Middlesex and Swindon, born c1851-1852.

His parents married in 1849 in Paddington but travelled and were never together on a census.

I still haven't found his Mother in 1851 another brickwall Ann Chandler born 1833 in Cirencester.

Best Regards

Cathy

Devon / Re: pearce/grebbell from plymouth
« on: Friday 30 November 12 19:52 GMT (UK)  »
to mysurprise I've found ancestors from plymouth...who went to Newcastle and settled during 1870's. George Grebbell, a printer, is father to Benjamin. Benjamin marries Mary Pearce. He is in Royal Marines at Stonehouse barracks. They have a Mary Jane Elizabeth Pierce Grebbel she marries and moved to Newcastle area.
My question is....any one out there with any conections? also I can't find anything about Benjamins RM history though I know he ended up as a pensioner, dying in marines hospital, Plymouth.

Hi Wendy,

My Husband Has Mary Pearce on his tree. Mary was the sister of his 3 x Great grandmother Jane Pearce.

Benjamin and Mary "remarried" , I haven't found a divorce as yet between them.

Can swap notes with you if you wish.

Best wishes

Cathy
