Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Jean Williams
« on: Sunday 06 March 11 14:52 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help to find my lost cousin Jean Williams or family . She was born in  Balham, London 1934 and married in the Doncaster/Mexborough area  around 1955 . possibly in a registry office. Her parents were Howard and Mary Williams (nee Tew). Her husband died young , an avid fisherman, and possibly an amateur boxer .   I have tried various options  but without her married name,  no luck.

Sorry Ernie  but after making a phone call, it seems that she did not marry a Egginton but many thanks anyway.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Jean Williams Marriage in Mexborough
« on: Tuesday 21 April 09 08:02 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help to trace a marriage or family of my cousin, Jean Williams from Battersea born 1934. She married  in  Doncaster/Mexborough area, around  1955'.  but not sure of  surname of her husband ,who I believe was a local lad .I have photographs of the wedding but all info was lost when my  mother died .
Her mother's maiden name was Mary Tew from Yorkshire, and Jean had a brother Norman  who went to Aus.
Nearest I can get is possibly her Husband could have been Ernest Eggington marriage to a Jean M  found in Yorkshire BMD but not sure
Any help would be much appreciated,

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Workhouse births - how did they work?
« on: Thursday 18 December 08 17:50 GMT (UK)  »
In my Tew family research I have found one or two unmarried relatives giving birth in the local workhouses ,Ripon and Easingwold.
I also found that the babies born in workhouses  seemed to be baptized in a group at the local church ASAP.
One of the main reasons, (apart from desperate circumstances) regarding some women , having children in the workhouses seems to be because there was just not practical in a  large family, to have home births.
