Sussex / Elizabeth Curd - 1796
« on: Monday 15 June 15 11:17 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace Elizabeth Curd born 1796 in Sussex. She was possibly not baptised until 1812 in Peasmarsh. She was buried also in Peasmarsh in 1823 having first married John Morgan (Murgin).
Prior to this marriage she appears to have had 5 children to unknown father(s), Martha 1811, James 1815, Thomas 1816, Mary Murphy 1818 and Stephen 1819. The only possibilitiy I have come up with is Elizabeth from Fletching but have been unable to find a connection. Elizabeth was a servant so it is entirely possible that se may have moved for work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kent Lookup Requests / Luck family Goudhurst
« on: Monday 10 February 14 23:45 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for ancestors or sibblings of Jacob Luck born C1725 in Goudhurst who married Mary Reynolds in 1750 also in Goudhurst.

There appears to be a theory on Ancestory that his name was in fact John Jacob Luck and that he was the son of Abraham Luck and Elizabeth Bailey and christened in Pembury, but there does not seem to be any evidence of this.

There is one other possible link or coincidence, namely Mary Reynolds had a sister Elizabeth. An Elizabeth Reynolds married Isaac Luck in Aylesford 1735 but also lived and had a family in Goudhurst. Could this be a case of two brothers marrying two sisters, but again no evidence and have also been unable to trace the birth of this Isaac.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sussex / Re: Baldock family

Hi, from what I have pieced together with the help of the Lewes records office, the Thomas that married Elizabeth Loofe (Luffe) was the son of Thomas and Susan(na) Manser. Believe Thomas senior was born 1653 in Wadhurst and was the son of William. Unfortunately I have been unable to find any details of William or his spouse apart from a daughter but I am now looking for connections in Kent.

Have had no luck with the manser family.

Regards,

Alan

Thanks for the reply.

Interesting that you have a connection with the Kine family aswell. If you assume that William's father, Thomas Darby, was married to Mary Kine, and follow this line backwards, you have a Mary Kine born 1603 in Ticehurst, daughter of George and Mary Farmer. Haven't done much digging yet but did wonder whether it was this Mary that married your Joseph Dicker.

Thanks to everyone for their work and input on this one. Shame I appear to be back where I started in that the Wilfred born 1906 who appears to be the best candidate, was in the navy. Have checked with his family who are definate about this.

Thanks again.

Looks like with the collar badges the birds faced opposite directions.

Thanks James,

Does look like a possibility, just looking at the cap badge on Wikipedia, only difference seems to be the direction of the birds head. Have cropped the photo to get a clearer look but unfortunately you cant make out any writing. Looking at their website, there was a W Baldock listed in the East Kent Regiment in 1917 which would be a strong possibility. Very frustrating that I can find no record for Wilfred and no links to our family apart from the photo. Even have a family photo of this generation of the family and all the children are accounted for and seems strange that one child would be missing. Will keep looking.

Thanks again for your help.
