Armed Forces / Re: which war would this be?
« on: Friday 28 January 22 03:12 GMT (UK)  »
At least one of them (William in the middle) was a policeman 1902-1920.  I also have the same person with a military service age 18 in 1891, but no further information on his service.

Armed Forces / which war would this be?
« on: Friday 28 January 22 01:16 GMT (UK)  »
I have come across this photo of 3 distant cousins in the Zealey family, I am fairly sure that it is prior to WW1 as one of them immigrated to Australia in 1912.  So can anyone identify what uniform and which war (if any) they relate to?  They would be UK uniforms.

World War One / Tug boat master in Royal Engineers?
« on: Friday 26 January 18 23:23 GMT (UK)  »
My GGG Cousin, Henry Albert Hogg.
I was going through his records on Ancestry and it looks like he may have been a tug boat master in the Royal Engineers in France in WW1.  He was posted to B.E.F. (BF7?) in Calais.  Would that be correct - what would a tug boat master be doing in WW1?
Any help would be appreciated.
Barb.

Would anyone know if Wellington Row was re-named or still exists?

London and Middlesex / Re: Who were the parents of Alice Zealey?

Found a christening for Alice Zealey
Name: Alice Zealey Gender: Female Christening Date: 05 May 1861 Christening Place: BEDDINGTON WITH WALLINGTON,SURREY,ENGLAND Father's Name: George Zealey  Mother's Name: Mary

Looks like the Beddington birth for Alice is more likely as she was married in Epsom.

So it looks most likely that Alice Zealey's parents were Mary Ann <?> and George Zealey.  Cant seem to find birth registration or marriage for either of them.
