I suspect, from what you have written that, if correct, he may have died at Windsor in England of natural causes on 10th June.  That seems to be the most likely explanation of an annotation saying "Windsor" (i.e. that he wasn't present with the battalion in Flanders).

The battle was fought between 16th and 18th June, so 10th June means he did not die in combat.

Hi Pheno
I cannot find a Sam Ford/Foord in the British army at Waterloo.

All the best

Hi Fred
I'm afraid there was no Captain Charles Jones or Grimes in the 15th Hussars at Waterloo. Not sure where you got that from.

All the best

Hi Maggyanne
Sorry for delay, I have been neglecting rootschat!
The only William Addis I have at Waterloo is from Muchdue, Hertfordshire. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Sorry, I've just found him- "Born St Martins, London. Locksmith. Enlisted 1812 aged 26. Discharged by paying £20 1817." Certainly a Waterloo Man

Bit late but hope this helps!

Hi Martin.
We have a Waterloo soldier James Gillespie Royal Horse Artillery.  He was a Chelsea Pensioner in later years.   Many thanks if you can spot him.
Bill B

Sorry, I don't have a James Gillespie - do you have reason to think he was at Waterloo? (the WO100 medal roll is even more unreliable than usual when it comes to Artillerymen)

Hi Martin

A very kind offer!  I have a discharge paper for my ancestor Jeremiah Hall of 'Eaton Bridge' (Edenbridge) in Kent dated 1822.  He was born in 1789.  He signed up in 1807 at the age of 18 and was in the Royal Artillery, he was discharged from Ireland.  If he was in the Royal Artillery at that point would that have meant he would have fought at Waterloo?  I have tried searching on find my past and came up with his statement of service but that is all.  He doesn't seem to come up on their list.  Would you be able to help.

Kerryb

Hi Kerry - the Royal Artillery consisted of many different battalions and most were not at Waterloo, so I'm afraid the answer is no - being in the RA does not necessarily mean he was there. There is no Jeremiah Hall on my current lists. You say you have a copy of his discharge papers - these will have "Waterloo - 2 years" or something similar written on it (next to his dates of service) if he was a Waterloo Man.
I hope this helps - do email me at xxxxxx if you have any other questions

Your work must be the most significant historical contribution since Waterloo. I'm sure it will be a great success.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Alas, publishers seem to think otherwise!
