The Common Room / Re: Adoption and change of name
« on: Monday 14 January 19 08:08 GMT (UK)  »
So without access to the adoption file a person that has been adopted may incorrectly assume that they have no blood connection to either there mother or father , but they may have actually been adopted  by there birth mother or even there biological father and not known this .
I assume also in some tragic cases grandparents have adopted there own grandchildren .
The key to all this is what the adoption files contain. Real can of worms !

Is it normal for a child to be adopted by his natural mother and her new husband on a 2nd marriage so that the child takes the new husbands surname . Was there any other way a child could have its surname changed to that of a stepfather without actually being adopted ?
By being adopted the child becomes a heir to the father , but a surname change only would that child still be an heir to the previous father ?
Thanks and Confused

Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: Lobeck family burials

Thanks for that , on free BMD all the Lobecks births and deaths are all descended from Karl born Prussia so it kind of makes things easy as it's only one family on there .

Just would be so nice to try and find a headstone or grave somewhere.

Thanks All . Roy

From 1900 until 1950, there are 6 deaths registered in Cardiff and East Glamorganshire, and another 2 in St Pancras (London) with another in Islington.

Where can I find where these are buried , I haven't been able to find them .

Graveyards and Gravestones / Lobeck family burials

Looking for any signs of any where a Lobeck may be buried I found only 2 .
Carl Lobeck was buried in a common grave at Falmouth Municipal Cemetery 7/10/1871 at 11 weeks old . It was in Unconsecrated ground .
However Annie Lobeck was buried in a common grave 11/5/1878 in the same Cemetery this time in Consecrated ground .
Who decided what ground you were buried in, was it because of your religion or cost . Again why a common grave again was it cost? There was talk there father known as Karl Lobeck  may have been Jewish although he may have moved away from this religion later in life. He came from Memel in Prussia also stated as Luhmansdorf in Pommerania. 99% of all Lobecks in the Uk are related to this man who lived originally in Cornwall and later in Monmouthshire but I cannot find any other burials.
Any leads on other burials .

Thanks Roy

Need to go back for more info . That may take a few days

Looks like only one died in WW1 , and again you are probably fight about Arthur Edward Wade died 1963 not 1970 .

And the lead on the Luvian Wade being Christian name and surname is a good lead .

Trying to help a friend out here trouble tracing anything about Luvian-wade family. Her father is loosely related to Albert Luvian Wade the famous rugby player that died in WW1. Albert was one I of 4 brothers born in Scotland, one other brother died in WW1. Albert was educated at Dulwich college.
The father of the 4 brothers lived in London with the 2 surviving brothers , trying to find any history of there descendants .
Can anybody help or provide any links to the history of this family . Free bmd brings up only one entry for Luvian Wade
