I have come up with some more data thanks to a helpful soul at the East Renfrewshire council.  It seems that Adam and several members of his family are buried in Cathcart, Section F, Lair 471.

Thank you so much for the contact information, and for keeping an eye out.  Adam Cunningham Henderson was born December 1841 and died December (or November) 1909.  He was born in Dunbeath Caithness and he could be listed as from Busby, East Kilbride or Kelvin Grove at death.

Thanks for the reply.  We have been in touch with Amanda Robb, who put us in touch with Ann McVicar, who seems to have written a book about the history of Busby and that whole area.  She had many facts about the good reverend, but no idea where he was buried.

The obituary was very brief, and did not cite where he was laid to rest, just that there were two memorial services for him.  The first one down by Kelvingrove, where he died (after he retired from the Busby church) and the second at the Busby East Church (Free Church) which was held second.

We checked Eaglesham and Mearns as well as the Glasgow Necropolis (just in case) with no luck.  I even checked the old family plots in Caithness when I visited there a week after.

Ann McVicar mentioned to us that he might be in Cathcart, but this we were out of time and could not locate it.

Any ideas who might be able to tell me if he (and his wife) are there?

Thanks

Bruce H

This is a very interesting thread.  I have been very interested in trying to locate the grave of my great-great grandfather, the Reverend Adam Cunningham Henderson and his wife Jane.  He was the minister of the Free Church in Busby up until about 1907, and he passed away in 1909.  Last time we were in Glasgow, we visited several cemeteries but have had no luck finding him.

Could anyone spare some suggestions on how to find if he is buried in Cathcart?

Thank you very much in advance!
