The Vic BMD'S site will be closed for maintenance from 11 pm 9th Nov until 1 am 10th Nov.   Hopefully this is to fix the marriages problem.  Fingers crossed.

Hi Rick & Sarra,

The Vic BDM's still have the same issue with marriages.  Seems unusual they haven't fixed it by now. ???     I solved my query another way, so do not need help.  Thank you for the kind offer anyhow. :)
Hope it's fixed soon.

Cheers, Bob

I believe that there is an I T problem with Victorian Marriages and that it is being worked on.
We can but hope it is remedied soon  :(

Derbyshire / Re: Buxton Fam connection needed
« on: Tuesday 14 September 21 02:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi Dahlia, No, unfortunately I have not made much progress in connecting the Bradbourne, Ellastone, or Fenny Bentley Buxtons with my lot which are spread around the Mayfield, ashbourne & Tissington areas.    The Ellastone Buxtons had a few who migrated to NZ and lived in Christchurch which is where my Thomas Buxton Jnr raised a family, yet I cannot connect them.  Most details are on previous posts on this list, so I will not duplicate them.   If you do make a connection with any of these "Tribes" I would appreciate it.  There are just too many Buxtons in the Derbyshire/Staffordshire area and records rarely reveal their connections.  ::)
Best of luck, Bob

Thanks Sue,  Maybe Lizzie took in a boarder to help pay the bills?

We have just got home from watching our Aussie rules football team "The Bulldogs" win their 5th straight match out of 5 played this season.   To find that Albert's death has been uncovered has topped off a great night.  My wife is extremely happy with the find. Thank you Tree Spirit.  Albert Drury's sister is my wife's relation.    I don't think Albert would have left Australia until his inheritance was paid in 1908 after his mother died. Perhaps he was in very poor health when they married and therefore not too concerned about committing bigamy?  Alice may have found it easier to access his estate as a legal wife in those days, hence the reason they did marry? who knows??
Anyhow, we now have what we were seeking, so thank you all who contributed especially Tree Spirit.

Yes Judb, the divorce papers were interesting reading, all 52 pages of them.  We do not have International membership of Ancestry either, but the facts to date are ample to explain Albert's "...disappearance from the public record".  With his daughter Ivy in such high social circles, it is understandable why her father's whereabouts was not made public.  One wonders if Albert committed bigamy by marrying 5 years before he was widowed, or was he able to obtain a divorce in Canada?
I cannot find a divorce in Australia.

Thank you so much Tree Spirit and others. This is an amazing discovery and explains so much.
My wife is hoping to write a book on her family history and this was just one of the mysteries which is now solved.  We will now start piecing all this new information together and including it into what we already have.    This is a wonderful forum, thank you  :)
