Hi Maggsie

Yes after a couple more enquiries it appears that Patrick Gillick left County Cavan in 1843 at age 21 and moved to Australia. We have all the full details of family after his arrival here just now need to find out exactly where in Cavan he came from. We'll press on.

Thanks

John

Thank you every one.
Our Rose Dorothy Gillick never married (to the best of our knowledge) and was a nurse with the Australian Army during WW1 (one of the Anzac Girls) and after moving to USA became a private nurse to a very wealthy New York couple. Travelled the world with them and lived in their apartment on Park Ave.
With an Irish ancestry she may well have had some contact with a "Cavan Society" which is another clue for us in our search for the Irish connection.
Thank you again.

I am attempting to find the death of Rose Dorothy Gillick who was born in Australia on 29 Sept. 1886, emigrated to USA in the 1920's and was became a US citizen. She returned to Australia in 1955 with the intention of retiring.
She apparently left Australia on the "Pioneer Gem" on 13 June 1956 presumably to return to USA and we have been unable to find any record of her returning to Australia after that date. She apparently died in USA and the only other clue we have is that she spent a considerable time living in New York.
 John.

Many thanks Maggsie.

Exactly what we needed to find out. Unfortunately we have no other information on this family in Ireland.
All we need now is to find the other side of the Great, Great, Grandparents. Can't even find when they arrived in Australia but with a surname of Gillick we're pretty sure that they originated in Ireland.
Thanks again.

Trying to trace the history of some of my wife's ancestors. Michael Darmody was born in Tipperary in 1810 and his son John was born in Tipperary in 1833 and both emigrated to Australia in 1840 on board the "Birman".
We are planning a possible trip to Ireland for next year and would love to get any/more information on the forbears.
Thanks in anticipation.

Seeking information on the above who was born at Cradock, South Australia on 29 September 1886, migrated to USA in 1920. She subsequently became a US citizen but retired to South Australia in 1955. She apparently lived with her sisters at 41 High St, Glenelg. I am very anxious to find a record of her death or burial in Australia. Incidentally she was one of the "Anzac Girls" and nursed with the Australian Army in Egypt, France & England.

Trying to trace some record of Jane Gillick who lived in Peterborough, South Australia during the early 1930s. She was the daughter of Patrick Gillick and Bridget McAuley who lived at Craddock in South Australia.

I believe that she may have married and had at least one child however older family members are very vague.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I'm trying to trace the death of the above who was born in South Australia and subsequently migrated to USA and became a US citizen. She returned to Australia in 1955 to live permanently but subsequently left on 13 June 1956 on board the "Pioneer Gem" ex Sydney.

Can anyone help with the destination of the Pioneer Gem (presumably the USA) but any information would be helpfull.

Many thanks

Hi all. Thank you very much for this information. Dorothea's husband, Harold is actually my uncle, and I'm just rounding out a bit of family tree for another family member. Once again many thanks.

ps. If you do happen to find any more information on the family it would be appreciated. Especially regarding arrivals in Australia..
