I am unsure if there is a connection as all the family I am interested in were from Ballyhaise in Cavan. there are some similarities with childrens names , but after a rewview of teh previous  posting ( which stacks up )I think this is just a coincidence.
Interestingly my mother family are all from County Meath !
Thanks for the info anyway

Don't know if this helps but I knew a Pat Crahan from Gibbstown ( next to Oristown/Wilkinstown) and he must have been in his 50's in 1968.

Ireland / Irish survivors medal
« on: Monday 15 June 09 05:22 BST (UK)  »
I know that my grandfather was active in the Irish War of independence but am unsure if he ever collected a survivors medal. Is there a listing of this award in any government archive that I could search.

Many thanks

Hi Boongie Pam, well another day and another query, I think I've found Mary McGhie's birth certificate but I can't read what I presume is her father's name. Any suggestions?
many thanks

I should say that her dob is 21/02/1779 Dumfries
