I don't see why you feel the need to mock a novice.

There's a list of the Consistory Court of Chichester wills here
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=coo.31924009521307;view=1up;seq=105

Find My Past also has them (reference numbers not the wills)
http://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-world-Records/sussex-chichester-consistory-court-wills-index-1482-1800

If you find one you want you can email West Sussex Record Office with the details and they get back to you with a quote of how much it will cost.

Thomas Mitchell born c1817 is in my tree, I believe the birthdate is inaccurate in Biographical Index of South Australians  1836-1885, for a start it is a baptism date, not a birth date.

Thomas Mitchell b1817 is in Neithrop, Oxfordshire, England as a solicitor's clerk on both the 1851 and 1861 census so is not the same man that emigrated to Australia.

I see the Australian death register gives his age at death in 1871 as 51, giving a birth date of c1820. There is a baptism at Cuckfield for a Thomas Mitchell on 14th May 1820 son of Samuel Mitchell, labourer and Jane which would seem to be a far better match for the Thomas Mitchell who died at Kadina.

There's a beautiful memorial to the three Kennedy sons in Cuckfield church (various photos on the internet), I was there the other day, though it's very high on the wall and in dark area under the bell tower so not easy to appreciate.

This thread has been renamed Burnt House Farm - just to clarify, I had asked for my photo to be renamed NOT the thread.

You have received very good advice on this and another forum, so when your funds permit and you have been able to do some basic research I'm sure many of us would be happy to help you further.

Good value I reckon, I was recently quoted £6.60 for photocopies of some documents from another record office or £56 for digital!

I listened with interest. Perhaps we should re-introduce the anglo Saxons words that differentiated between maternal and paternal aunts and uncles!
