That would be great thank you! My tree is on tribal pages, I will send you a link to that in a message and my email as I would love to see your grandad's research. I also think my branch might have links to Claverley, but not sure exactly where that starts.

Ummmm, it appears someone has dug up a post of mine from THIRTEEN years ago lol. If it helps, my grandmother's family (Elizabeth Jane Higgs) are from the Trysull line. They were all Millers, and lived there from the early 1700's.

Hello Adrian,

I am a Higgs descendant from the Trysull line and think you are probably right that your Elizabeth is part of this family. I don't have info on her in my tree other than the 01 Feb 1776 christening, (daug. of Joseph Higgs and Elizabeth Cornes) I had not found a marriage or a death. I have done quite a bit of research although probably plenty of mistakes! Will send you a link to my online tree.

The 1793 burial as established was not Joseph's wife, or his daughter. It could be his sister (ch.17 Feb 1750) who I have no further info on. His mother was also named Elizabeth, this is why it gets confusing. I don't have anything on her either other than the last name Tilley.

You have on the marriage for John Stafford/Elizabeth Higgs a witness named William Wooley. There is a connection with this name a long way back in that Joseph's great grandfather Stephen Higgs was married to a Sarah Pratt b1645, both from Trysull. Sarah's father Henry Pratt mentions a granddaughter in his will dated 1698 named Sarah Wooly. This may just be coincidence as it is a hundred years prior to the marriage.

Thanks for your reply, I agree with you that I don't think John ch.1728 in Wombourne would suddenly become John Corrance of Suffolk, marrying in Westminster.

I'm working on the basis that my John, 5 x great grandfather, who married Mary (I can't find this marriage) and their children christened in Penn which is a couple of miles from Wombourne. Also the names of the children follow names from earlier generations eg Rachel, after John's mother? Plus Ann, Richard, Esther, Hannah all being names from that line before.

Hello, any of you Corns/Cornes researchers still about? My ancestor is Elizabeth Cornes ch.28 July 1753 Penn who married Joseph Higgs in 1774 and moved to Trysull

I think she is daughter of John Corns 1728 Wombourne and Mary?, so grand daughter of John Corns and Rachel. My tree is on tribal pages, let me know if anyone wants to share info thanks.

Elizabeth siblings as follows -
John Cornes 1755
Thomas Cornes 1755
Ann Cornes 1758
Rachel Cornes 1760
Mary Cornes 1762
Richard Cornes 1764
Joseph Cornes 1766
Esther Cornes 1768
Hannah Cornes 1770 all christened Penn, Staffs.

Thanks for your reply, yes I think you're right and he was probably just a witness. I will come back to this if I find anything that might show otherwise.  ???

Hi, not sure if anyone will read this now, but might as well post here.

James Shaw Hellier signed as a witness to the will of my ancestor Elizabeth Higgs (maiden name Cornes) who died in Trysull, Staffs in 1814. I have no idea how/if they were connected.

I have also found a some possible connected names to my Pratt family on the morganfourman site. These include the Barnesleys from Trysull, and Thomas Pudsey.

Hi rootschatters, I have been researching my Higgs ancestors from the Trysull area and wondered if anyone is connected to the names listed in my title?

My line goes back to the Pratt family, and my ancestor Henry Pratt made his will in 1698 which was witnessed by Thomas Pudsey, Thomas Wollaston and William Barnsley jnr. He named Thomas Pudsey in the will as his 'loving friend' along with a Thomas Pratt of Bellington?

I have looked at the will of Elizabeth Barnsley of Trysull also dated 1698 where she lists relatives including her Pratt 'cousins' (sons and daughters of her brother Pratt) I'm assuming bro in law here, and they are named as Thomas, James, Samuel, Jeremiah, Josiah, Andrew, Margaret Kors?, and Sarah.

I am not sure how these all add up together, but any info and suggestions would be helpful, thanks.
