« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 21:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi, does anyone have any information on Henry Lewis b.c1831 in Norley who married Ann Cooper b.c1830 in Allerthorpe?

They had a few children including my G. Grandfather George Gilbert Cornwall Lewis.

Thanks.

I have a Hosker tree that I've pieced together like a jigsaw from other trees that match and the Hoskers on it go right back to about 1630, where the name varied to Horskarr.  I'll send you the tree if you like

Hi

We probably should compare trees then - I think the Jane & Thurston I have been following were the children of Thurston Hosker & Margaret Cookson, but it is difficult to tell.

This duplication of names of cousins in the same area is where we came in with the Henry Culshaws  ;D

I have 3 Thurston's on my tree, Thurston Hosker b.1733 (sister Jane b.1736) ; Thurston Hosker married to Alice Glover (they had several kids, Alice b.1753, Mary Jane, Richard and Thurstan Hosker b.1766.  I'll send you my tree if you want (is there a way of emailing privately on here?)

Hi Amanda

Henry the younger b 1826 is my 3xGGrandfather.

Are you following Henry son of Thurston?

I have some other bits from further back if you are interested?

Regards
SandraC

Hi, I have a tree of Hoskers going back to the 1600s.  There is a Thurstan Hosker married to Alice Glover who had several children including Jane b.1760 and Thurston b.1766.  A lot of my Hoskers are from the Croston and Rufford area

Hi Sandra,

Thank you for the reply.

I am following the line of James Culshaw born 1802 Rufford. I am trying desperately to link all the other Culshaws of Bolton/Rufford/Burscough. No easy task. I do have the Henrys and Thurston on my tree although I feel their links maybe a little suspect. If you have any information I would be very pleased to receive it and it may just confirm some of my connections.

If I am on the right lines I am hoping you have Henry born c 1761 and Jane Hosker (the origins of the name Thurston from her father.) Do you have Henry's father, please? Hopefully then I can make a definate connection.

Best regards

Amanda

Thank you for replying.

My Grandfather was called William Alfred Ayres b.22/9/1893 Ellesmere Port, Wirral, he was married to Agnes Hastry - His father was called William John Ayres b.1871 London?, he married Leah Mortimore and his father may have been called Richard Liddiatt Ayres bc 1838 and married to Emma Herod.  I don't know much beyond that

Thank you, that's interesting, they must have moved at some point.  Is this Lindum House in Spilsby you're mentioning as you say Horncastle, is Horncastle situated near or within Spilsby?  Please could you tell me why you thought the occupiers of Lindum House would appear in Kelly's directory? - thanks

Hi, on my tree there is an Alice Cunliffe b. 1848, Fustian cutter, her brother was Joseph, master draper and their father was William Cunliffe, Brickmaker.

Alice Cunliffe married Alfred Mortimore and had a daughter Leah Mortimore.  They lived at 28 Manchester Rd, Lancs on 8 July 1874 when Leah was born, any connection?
