Agnes was my gg grandmother and I'm trying to find her and her daughters on the 1911 census. Now I've tried every means I can think of for a long time now and haven't found her. I'm thinking that she was probably missed off the census but before I give up I thought I'd ask for the help of you kind people a perhaps fresh eyes might help.
She was born Agnes Laing c1851 in Scotland, the reason I'm so keen on finding her in 1911 is the hope that a more definitive birth place is given. I do have a family in mind for Agnes by process of elimination but without a place of birth I'm reluctant to add them to my tree.
Anyway as I said, she was born Agnes Laing, daughter of William Laing a Blacksmith and married William Muir in Newcastle in 1872. They had several children including 2 daughters Alice and Angelina who are also missing from the census. I know they are all alive as I have Agnes' death cert for 1923 and both girls marriages after 1911.
William died in 1895 and in 1901 Agnes seems to be in the workhouse in Newcastle (the age is slightly out but I think its her). She does die in the workhouse in 1923 but her address is given as her sons house in Newcastle so I'm thinking perhaps she was a patient rather than an inmate. Anyway I've searched through the workhouse census in 1911 and there's no sign of her or her daughters.
Angelina btw marries under the name of Lena (I thought I'd had a breakthrough when I discovered that but it hasn't helped). This particular troublesome young lady isn't to be found (by me anyway) on any census since she was a baby. I do have both of the daughters marriage certs -1914 and 1916ish (I'm away from my records) and had hoped to locate them with the addresses from there but they weren't there in 1911.
Any help, advice or suggestions would be gratefully received.
