Canada Resources / Ontario Canada - Waterloo Region

Waterloo County Ontario

I've just found a wonderful website that came on line in February 2011 called Waterloo Region Generations.  It is being updated frequently with sources from the Waterloo Genealogical Society and has many contributors.  The website contains family trees for the area based on the resources such as cemetary transcriptions, census records etc.  Photos have also been uploaded.

Canada / Re: WAYBRANT, Isabella (Brogan) - Ontario

Update:  I’ve been searching for quite a while.  I’m convinced that my Henry Hezekiah Waybrant is indeed the same person as Hezekiah Waybrant who married Isabella Brogan.  It only took a trip to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City Utah to lead me onto the right path.

I found a reference to Waybrants in the Local History Book “Toil, Tears & Truimph- a History of Kincardine Township. p240”.  This source identified that Philip Waybrant, a mechanic first came from Cape Breton to Kincardine Twp in 1854 and that he had been married twice with a total of 13 children.  Hezekiah, Armenia, Alexander, Mary, Philip, Elizabeth, Sarah Ann, William, John, Henry, Catherine, Rueben and Esther.

I then validated that Ayr is in or near Kincardine Twp.  I found the cemetery transcriptions at FHL for Ayr Cemetary and found the following cemetery plots purchased by Hezekiah Waybrant:

Brogau[Brogan], Mrs. John, Mother in law
Brogau[Brogan], 75, Father in law
Waybrant, Alexander, son
Waybrant, Maisy Ann, daughter
Waybrant, John Phillip, 27, son
Waybrant, William, son
Waybrant, Charles Harvey, 10, son
Waybrant, Isabella Brogu[Brogan], 35, wife

Subsequent searching of birth records for the children mentioned here turned up the registration for John Phillip.  The parents on this record identify the father as “Henry Hezekiah Waybrant” and “Isabella Brogan”.  Yippee ki aye!!! :D

Here’s the family I have confirmed now:

Henry Hezekiah Waybrant (b. abt 1842 – d 1894) married Isabella Brogan (b.1842, Ireland-d 15 June 1879, Ayr, ON)

Their children are:
William Waybrant (b. abt 1865, ON)
Anna B. Waybrant (b. abt 1869, ON)
John Phillip Waybrant (b 15 May 1870, North Dumfries, Waterloo, ON)
Margaret (Maggie) Waybrant (b. abt 1873, ON)
Henry Hezekiah Waybrant (b. 26 Aug 1875, North Dumfries, Waterloo, ON)
Charles Harvey Waybrant (b. abt 1876, ON) died 8 Mar 1886, Ayr, Waterloo, ON
Alexander Waybrant (b. 20 Aug 1877, Ayr, North Dumfries, Waterloo, ON) died 31 Dec 1877, Ayr, ON
Maisy Ann Waybrant (b. Apr 1879) died Aug 1879

Henry Hezekiah Waybrant married Eliza Ann Stone (b. 6 Jan 1862, Nanticoke, ON – died 21 Mar 1922, Hamilton, ON)

Children all born in Hamilton are:
   Henry J. Waybrant (1881 – 1883)
   Robert Waybrant (twin) (1884 – 1884)
   James Waybrant (twin) (1884-1884)
   Henrietta Waybrant (1885 - )
   Almer Alexander Waybrant (1887 – )
   Minnie Waybrant (1889 - )
   Eliza Waybrant (1891- 1891)

Thank you JJ, Jacquie and vbain for all the assistance and links.

SSC

Sylvia and Carolyn,  thank you very much for the wonderful restorations.  Your talent amazes me.   I'll be attending a family reunion this weekend and 2 of the 3 remaining siblings will be there as well as a daughter of the 3rd.  I'm sure they will be just as thrilled as I am.

Tricia this is one of my favorite photos and I think the only photo the family has of Almer who passed away in 1929.  I'm glad you like it as well.

Hi All,

This is photo of some of my aunts and uncles... the older ones, there were 12 and I'm fortunate to have 3 still here.  I don't think I've ever seen a photo that had all of them in it.  I was hoping that you generous folks out there could fix it up.
