Argyllshire / Re: McPHERSON - research from Australia
« on: Thursday 06 May 10 03:04 BST (UK)  »
Jenny,

I have Duncan's death certificate.  Born in Argyllshire, Scotland. He died in 1871 at Ultimo, (Sydney).  It lists Colin McPherson as his father - a farmer.  His mother is not listed.  Duncan's son, Daniel, was the informant.  States time in the colony as 27 years and 11 months.  Spouse - Mary McInnes. (As I had stated in a previous posting).

It doesn't look like we are talking about the same family, my McPherson's were in Sydney with no links to VIC. I haven't done any research for some years and am not currently working on my tree.

Thanks for your help and good luck with your research.

regards
Carol

Dublin / Re: Patrick FLOOD - immigration to Australia between 1817 and 1855

Thanks Corcoran

It seems Patrick Flood is a pretty common name and I have insufficient information to be able to take this line any further at this stage. I'm studying full-time and my family research has been put on hold for now.

Hi Robyn,

Cornelius came to Australia as a convict, arrived 1825 aged about 20. So no connection to your family. Good luck with your research.

Hi Carol  :)

Patrick's death certificate may have useful information on it.  If the informant on the certificate was aware of it, info such as parents, birthplace and how long in the colony could be recorded.  Worth a try anyway.

Other places to look are immigration records.  There are some online indexes for NSW here:
http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/archives/indexes_online_3357.asp
Victoria:

Bounty scheme index:

Are you sure he wasn't a convict? Good luck with your search  :)

Hi,

I have his death certificate and it does not assist with my enquiries.  Thanks for asking about it.
