Sentence for George Harrop, Nominal Register >1906 Oct-Dec. I found it hard to decipher the sentence for above, not simply the writing but the initials. I have no idea what they mean. Not sure of the first abbreviated word Obsg. or Oblg. oats tx(?) by f. p(?). 9 months
Also sentence for George Harrop Nov 1905 - Feb 1906 Oftq. or Offq. tea & coffee set by JP - 3 months H.L.
Would appreciate help. Thanks

Kris,
I didn't know George snr. was a perfumer. Quite possible he worked for Francis I suppose.
I looked up Bow St. on Google earth and that is where the Royal Opera House is, and quite a well to do area so this other George must have done well for himself. May be an uncle perhaps.
No I don't have a marriage entry for George and Regina, nor do I have George's signature.
Thanks for the info. Happy Christmas ;)

Very interesting about the Prof of music, but if George was born at the latest 1807, I suppose he could still have siblings born 1819 and 1820. However, that could not be him getting married at 10 yrs. old to Elizabeth Withers.
Even if he was 67 when he died (death transcription says above 65), he would still be only 17 when married. That seems a bit young for a professional family to me.
If this was the case, I don't think his mother would be still bearing children in 1820.
Flogged, this is what I know about Charles John Frederick Gruneisen. He was born in Stuttgart, Baden Wurttenberg, Germany in 1862, naturalized in 1796. By 1813, at least, he was a merchant living in Cumming St., Pentonville. He was declared bankrupt in 1824 and was a victim of robbery of a silver spoon. The 2 thieves aged 16 and 18 were transported to Australia. He died Dec. 1824 - not a good year!
I sent the photos to you last night but they were returned this morning. Could you please send me your e-mail address again.

Thank you so much everyone. I'm pretty sure that these are the people I am looking for. Edward and Frances' daughter, Kate married David Nicol, and they had a dairy farm in Lang Lang, about 27 Kms. away from Jeethro. David grew up in Eaglehawk, and Edward was a gold miner.
It makes more sense for Ed and Fran to be married in England because he would have had to have been a fast worker to arrive in January 1857, find a wife and have his first child all in that year.
Also have a Edward Billing living in St. Mary Islington in 1841 England Census.
I don't have any birth certs for the children, but found John, b.1857, Collingwood and Kate, b. 1859, Footscray, in Pioneers in State Library, and the others in Vic. bdm.
Thanks for the info on the brother too, and the snippet of missing friends.

I am trying to find the birth and parents of a Frances Paice. She married Edward Billing and they had their first child in Collingwood, Vic. in 1857. I think she died in 1909. They lived in Talbot, Vic for a few years, around 1865+. Can't find her anywhere :-\. Thank you in anticipation. Travelbug

Flogged,
I have just been given an old (over 100 yrs) photograph album. ;D It may contain a photo of Regina at around 60 years of age. ??? The back of the photo says "Possibly your father's mother". I've dated the photo - approx. 1870's - and the woman in it looks about the right age for Regina.
If you are interested in seeing it, I hope to be able to access a scanner soon and send it to some rellies.

Hi flogged,
You have an interesting ancestry.
I'm afraid the only photos I have are of my grandmother, George and Regina's granddaughter, and some of her siblings. The earliest I have is about 1902. She had an interesting life and I have written a mini biography with the help of cousins and 2nd cousins.

Hi flogged,
I know George and Regina arrived Adelaide with 4 children; George b. 1832, (my ancestor) Regina Catherine, b. 1835, Arthur Louis b. 1837, and Constance b. 1838. At least the first 3 were baptised at St. James, Westminster.
John Young was the first born in Adelaide, 1840; then Theophilus Charles 1842; Emma, 1844; Claude 1844; Francis Christian 1848; and Septimus 1851. I doubt that Claude and Emma were twins because I have had contact with Emma's descendant and she had never heard of Claude. So probably either Emma or Claude were born in 1846 as Regina seemed to have a child about every 2 years.
Some of Theophilus' children went to W.A. for the gold mining. I got most of this information from a descendant in Perth.
