Stirlingshire / Re: Craigerme Farm Bucklyvie?

Thank you for looking all this up. I am aware of the Peter McCallum the inn keeper in Kippen. But have not researched him very thoroughly yet. I realised that Peter McCallum could be a transient labourer and could be literally anywhere by the 1871 census and have spread the net for him. But you are right in that I should further into the marriage in 1870. I have come across Bucklyvie spelt both with an h and a k. Thanks again for your assistance in this, it's appreciated.

I have looked up Craigerme Farm and now it seems quite a big poultry operation!  Looking back the appropriate censuses has not been fruitful nor has looking up valuation rolls. I will do more research on censuses and see if my (possible) great grandfather pops up somewhere else. Thank you for your advice though.

The cottage in Low Coylton would be an old one. The house they moved to could have been quite new probably before the war, and probably a council house.

If it was a council house or another new development:
Compare historic maps or street directories to work out when it might have been built;
There would have been articles in local newspapers about a new council estate, e.g. minutes of council planning committee, laying foundation stone, official opening & handing keys to first tenants.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I am interested in maps, so I will look into that avenue particularly. Will also look for street directories and local press.

They are on the Valuation Roll at No 9 Carbieston, under Peter MacCallum in 1915, 1920, 1925, 1930, and 1935. In 1940, they are at 23, Arthurston Terrace, Joppa. Nothing for 1905. Mac & Mc always gets you lost on SP. Always use fuzzy matching.

Added: In 1905, they are at 19 Abbey Rd Stirling.
This is great, thanks. I couldn't trace anything on the valuation rolls. Maybe the Mc etc is the culprit!
Thanks for helping me out. Just hope this reply works!

Thank you for your replies. I have tried the valuation rolls and can't find them anywhere (Stirling or Coylton) between 1895 - 1945. which is strange!
The census didn't give the place of birth. But I do know that they must have moved from Stirling between 1902 and 1908 because of their birth certificates.  What I don't know is when they moved to their larger house in Coylton, which is where I was first aware of them.

Sorry forgot to put dates! They moved from Stirling sometime after 1901 census. The cottage in Low Coylton would be an old one. The house they moved to could have been quite new probably before the war, and probably a council house. I have just checked the 1911 census and they are living in Low Coylton then. Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know when the McCallum family moved into the village of Low Coylton and when moved to new house at Coylton (Joppa) please? This is my Grandparents who moved from Stirling I believe. Thanks.
