Hi Madpants
I'm begining to think I'm looking at completely different datasets to every other researcher on the planet as I've trawled through so many variations on the surname and never before seen Thretener featured in any of them.  So thank you so much for the find on the 1851 Census - I'll go back and have a look for it myself. Birth certs definitely say mothers name was Pool(e) but I agree that it would seem bizarre to be living in London and marrying in Yorkshire.  I'm assuming you're saying the census record you're referring to was for London not Yorkshire?
Many thanks once again

Hi Carole
My sister has the marriage certificate you referred to but is not convinced it is the correct one.  Reason being we know of three sons, Henry (1840), William(1845) and Robert (my GGGrandfather - 1846). The 1841 census couple had Ann 2(1839) William 1(1840) and we have not been able to find the extended family on the 1851 census. Plus, my sister believes there is a Yorkshire connection through Ann Pool(e)'s family so I thought I'd give it a try.  Trying to break down the brick wall!! Also, we do seem to have problems with getting records in respect of St Luke's Parish and just don't seem to be able to move forward.

Thank you so much for picking up on my latest post but I don't want to detract from the search in Middlesex - just extending it (on behalf of my sister really because I'm not convinced).
Many thanks, Gwen

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Marriage Thitchener/Pool(e) Pre 1841
« on: Friday 24 July 09 22:27 BST (UK)  »
Am looking for the marriage between a William Thitchener/Thicthener/Titchener and an Ann Pool(e) somewhere in Yorkshire pre 1841. William was born around 1806-1810 and am presuming Ann born roughly round same date range. William was a watch/clockmaker born St Luke's, London.  I believe Ann's family were of the same profession, and think her fathers name was Henry.  Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Titchener/Thitchener Watchmaker birth

Thanks once again Carole, unfortunately, we can't tie any of those in except Amelia and William Purdue, and our Thomas & William are recorded as being born in the very elusive 'St Luke's' parish.

Sorry Carole for not thanking you sooner, hadn't got to grips with replies.
Already had the 1841 Census information thanks.

Jennifer, many thanks to you also, intriguing twist to family talents, I only wish I could play!

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Titchener/Thitchener Watchmaker birth
« on: Tuesday 23 June 09 20:24 BST (UK)  »
Looking for either Thomas C Thitchener or William J Thitchener B1801 & 1806 respectively in St Lukes Parish, both watchmakers known to have traded at a number of addresses in the locality. Hit the brick wall on finding birth records although have marriage and death records.
Descendents of my GGGrandfather William Josephat are Henry(B1841), William (B1845),Robert (B1846) - Francis Sydney (B1867), Alfred Percy (B1869), Amy (B1874), George (B1875) - Arthur Alex (B1905) Alfred George (B1909), Frank Francis (B1911) and George Stephen (B1912).
I'd be absolutely delighted if you could help  and very happy to pass on my findings.
Thanks very much for your time
Gwen
