Thanks for that. Her husband was in Ealing in 1939, I was wondering if they had split up since they seem to be living apart, I'll have to check some more directories.

England / Pencil marks on 1939 Register

Hi, I'd just like to know what the pencil marks over the entry for Annie Niderost mean please.

This is what the title for 73 says. I didn't buy the plan as well, so I can't see which bits are red and blue.

(28.03.2008) The Leasehold land shown edged with red on the plan of the above title filed at the Registry and being 73 College Road, London (NW10 5EL).
NOTE: As to the part tinted blue on the title plan only the ground floor maisonette is included in the title.

Readydale, I just thought since it has all gone electronic they might not have loaded all the old details onto the system.

Rosie, my mum said that when she was a child her family lived upstairs and there was another family that lived downstairs, so yes you are right.
But my uncle bought the place in the 1960s and as far as I know he bought the whole thing.

Yeah I will give that a try, although I am not feeling overly optimistic :)

Thanks for your replies, using that it link it was no problem getting a copy of the current title. Do you think that they will look for a historical title for me though?

England / Can I find out who was the owner of a property in London in the 1940s?
« on: Monday 16 January 17 09:08 GMT (UK)  »
My mother claims to recall being told that the property (73 College Road, Willesden) she lived in as a child in the late 1940s was owned by her grandmother - although this seems unlikely since her grandmother was a cleaning lady that struggled to make ends meet.
Is there any way of ordering the title to the property so that we can find out for sure one way or the other, my mother has a real bee in her bonnet about this    ;D
We are in Australia so it would have to be online or by snail mail.

Another assault - West London Observer - Saturday 13 May 1871

Frederick Donald an upholsterer of 78 Bramley Road Notting Hill was charged with assaulting Levi Shepherd....
Richard Donald was a witness.

I've found a Frederick Donald , upholsterer b 1840 in Camden Town in the 1871 census, so perhaps he is a real person after all.
