Once again, thank you both so much for your help. I'll try both the register and SP to see what more I can uncover.

Thanks for that, I know Whyte is another name that crops up in our family tree, along with Newlands but that's normally on the McPhee side.

I think it's more difficult as I have so little information. In common with many other Traveller families my Dad was forcibly removed from his parents and put in an orphanage, so we have no one to ask.

Thank you for your suggestion Carole. I have followed it and got a bit further! Isabellas' parents were listed as William Stewart (deceased by 1942) and Mary Cameron but I've had no luck so far in finding any other trace of them. I have also solved the mystery of why SP has no record of John's death in 1964 as he actually died in Edinburgh.

Hi, I'm trying to trace my grandmother's family but I have very few details. Isabella Stewart (c.1917-?) married John Mcphee (born 1902 in Portnockie - died 1964 Aberdeen) in 1942 in Catrine but no other info available. Both were Travellers and John's family are well documented for several generations. John's parents were Isaac & Rebecca (Newlands) and were originally from Wick.  But Isabella is a mystery. We have no idea of even her parents names. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
