Norfolk / Charlton in Norfolk
« on: Friday 17 January 20 05:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm researching Joel Charlton born 1799 in Stow, Norfolk married to Frances Rupel.
He was Licensee of "Chequers" Inn in Wimbotsham, Norfolk, England between 1836 and 1856. He died in 1854. They had 12 children I've found birth records for. Thats about all I've been able to find on the children. Their son William Charlton went to South Australia in 1877 with wife Hannah nee Hewett. Would there be any relations out there?

Yes its confusing with so many name changes different spelling,  and a few Bertrams around the same areas (guess all related)  Just cant find storys/articles as to why the seemed to move around or if they are different families.

Burra they are my great great grandparents.

Australia / Alice Jane WRIGHT - SOUTH AUSTRALIA - 1878-1897
« on: Friday 27 October 17 07:31 BST (UK)  »
I'm hoping for some help again. For Alice Jane Wright I assume was born in South Australia in 1878. I know she died 10 Jun 1897 at Norwood, South Australia and buried at the Payneham Cemetery aged 19. Her parents where Richardson John Wright and Catherine (nee Laidler). I haven't been able to find Alice Jane's birth or how she died. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Oh wow! Thanks Christine. Didn't think of misspelling but know it did happen. Very interesting, many family secrets I'm finding on this side of the family!

Yes MaxD thats right, That was my first guess that she was a nurse as he was married back here in Australia at the time. But I've since heard he was a bit of a ladies man and had gone AWOL a few times and its not known where he went or did while he was missing. Doesn't look like its provable either way who she was or why she was looking to contact him, or if they ever made contact again.  :'(
