Quick update to this one.
The marriage certificate for Charles Cook and Alice Fowell shows Alice to be a Towell not Fowell which is what we expected and her father is listed as Henry Cook. There is a Henry cook with an Elizabeth living with them in Metheringham so this confirms that link. The only problem is what was Alice doing in Guisborough to marry Charles Cook. Well on the census when I check the family she was living with as a servant the head of the house was born in Metheringham. So it looks like she went with the family when they moved to Guisborough leaving her young daughter with her parents. Alice married in 1871 Elizabeth her daughter was born in 1868 so therefore was still a Towell not a Cook as confirmed on her marriage certificate to Charles Henry Addison. Elizabeths birth certificate shows no father. So that trail ends there.
Thanks for all the help
