Hi Madpat,

I wonder if you have had time or chance to find anything further at all about Patrick Kavanagh & Winifred (possibly Margaret) Norton?

Thanks
Kat  :)

Hello Madpat,

I do understand and thanks once again. There are probably quite a few Patrick Kavanagh's on the electoral roll as it's a common name. Not being rude or picky at all but its Winifred (possibly Margaret) Norton not Nolan.

once again thanks

Hello TunjiLees

I think you are absolutely right that your ancestor Robert Robertson is related to my Robertson ancestors. I do not know where your Robert fits in but im pretty sure he would have been a son or nephew of my Hugh Robertson who was born in Errol in 1769.
I have often wondered if Hugh was married firstly to Elizabeth Will but i've not had any conclusive proof yet but perhaps it's time to start searching again.

I'm descended from Hugh and Mary's son Thomas Robertson, yes the Thomas who bought lair 51 and i suspect that Robert and Thomas were half brothers or possibly cousins.

I'll have to dig out the tree again and get back to you on a few things but i wonder if we could check on the naming pattern of Robert and Katherine's children and see if there would be a link there to older generations that lay undiscovered to us.

Hey Madpat you are an absolute diamond!! :)

I'm quite excited that you have found dad's family! Dad would have been 7 years old in May 1939 but could show up as 6 years old depending on what month the census was taken.
Any information would be great and i really appreciate your help  :)

Oh, i don't know if this will be of any help at all but i know the family were Roman Catholic.

Hi Madpat,

I only have dad's birth certificate details to use in my search so not alot to go on. I'm afraid i have absolutely no family to ask for any information either and dad passed away a number of years ago.

Anyway, the birth cert states:

Richard Kavanagh, 15th May 1932 Rotunda, Dublin North City No.2
father: Patrick Kavanagh, Labourer, 11c Corporation Buildings,
Mother: Winifred Kavanagh formerly Norton

I'm positive my dad had a sister but again im stuck on that one as i was never told her name but i've looked at the IGI and found Margaret Kavanagh born 1934 to the same parents but in Thurles Tipperary.

I really am looking a few needles in a hatstack lol.

Thanks for your help Eadaoin and Madpat, very kind of both of you

Katarina

yes it was Madpat.

His parents are Winifred Norton and Patrick Kavanagh. I've now got the headache of trying to find their marriage.

Kev

Thank you very much :) for the look up and referrals to other info on the 61st.

I don't know what we would do without people like you and others here who take the time (a lot of your own time!) to help.

xx
